I got a question. How do Street Smart and Keen Eye differ in reading people (aside from SS majoring in the art of lying)? The descriptions made me wonder a bit on which one I'd rather choose. Is SS like... having x2 Empathy because of being able to pick up lies *and* having a good read on people while being able to be sneaky? Is KE more of a general Sherlock Scan?
There was definitely way too much overlap in how we wrote the social components of Street Smart and Keen Eye when we first started work on Scarlet Hollow — we’ve sloooowly been going through over the years and incrementally patching older episodes + changing our how we write them in newer episodes.
In general, the breakdown is more along the lines of:
Keen Eye — leaning far more into observational skills, especially active environmental observation. Keen Eye might conclude that someone is sloppy because there’s a mustard stain on their shirt.
Street Smart — more of a vibes-based thing, focusing on direct interpersonal interactions. Street Smart might conclude that the same person is sloppy because of their bad posture or lazy energy while never noticing the mustard stain.
Where both traits are relevant, we try to get a dual-trait option that gives just a wee bit extra info.
Over time, we’ve also given less social cues to Keen Eye and focused much more on the environmental side of things.
