India bonds to join J.P. Morgan index in 'watershed' moment

NEW YORK -- India's debt market is set to attract billions of dollars from abroad upon its inclusion in J.P. Morgan's emerging market debt index on Friday, marking a milestone for the country's standing in the global financial market.

"JP Morgan's index inclusion of Indian government bonds is a watershed moment for the fixed-income markets in India, and very welcome," said Vishal Goenka, co-founder of fixed-income investment platform IndiaBonds.
