Woman dies after car goes off South Carolina road, hits culvert, overturns, coroner says
A woman was killed from injuries she suffered in a South Carolina crash after being thrown from her vehicle, the coroner's office said Wednesday.
Jessica L. Goolsby, 31, of Townville, died Monday morning as a result of her injuries, according to Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore.
He said the crash happened about 3 p.m. on April 16 on Highway 24 near Prater Gin Road.
The Townville Volunteer Fire Department was one of the responding agencies and took photos at the scene.
Shore said Goolsby was traveling on Highway 24 when her car ran off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and overturned, causing her to be ejected.
Fire crews set up a landing zone at the Oakdale Baptist Church and the patient was flown by Lifeflight to a trauma center, officials said.
Shore said Goolsby was taken to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial where she was treated, but was then transferred to hospice care.
Goolsby died of complications from multiple traumatic injuries which were a result of the accident, Shore said.
