AUBURN FOOTBALL SEASON TICKET HOLDERS GOT A SURPRISE VISIT FROM AUBIE. THE TIGER TODAY. THE MASCOT STOPPED IN NEIGHBORHOODS ACROSS THE BIRMINGHAM AREA JUST TO TELL FANS, THANK YOU, AND WE WERE THERE FOR IT ALL. WE FOLLOWED AUBIE AS HE ROLLED UP TO SEVERAL HOUSES TO SURPRISE SEASON TICKET HOLDERS. OFFICIALS WITH THE ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT SAY THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT THEY’VE TRAVELED TO ROLLED FANS HOMES. THEY’RE ALSO DOING IT TO GET FANS PUMPED UP FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON. AND FOR US, WE WANT TO BRING THAT SPIRIT BACK TO THEM. SO WHAT BETTER WAY TO THEN LOAD UP? ALL BE IN THIS SWEET RIDE AND LITERALLY SURPRISE PEOPLE? WE DON’T WANT ANYBODY TO KNOW WE’RE COMING. WE WANT TO LITERALLY NOT ALL BE TO KNOCK ON THE DOOR. THE REACTIONS OF OUR FANS ARE PRICELESS. Auburn football season ticket holders are getting a surprise visit from Aubie the Tiger this week.The mascot stopped in neighborhoods across the Birmingham metro area just to tell fans thank you, and WVTM 13 was there for it all.We followed Aubie as he rolled up to several houses to surprise season ticket holders and take the Toomer's Corner experience to their homes.Daniel Watkins, the senior associate AD for Marketing at Auburn, says this is the first time they've traveled to roll fans' homes. They're also doing it to get fans pumped up for the upcoming football season.We spoke with Helen Martin. She's an Auburn fan. She says what she first thought when she saw Aubie. "I really thought my grandchildren may have sent him over here because my birthday was last week. That's what I thought, what have they done," Martin said."They're making long drives and dedicating a lot of resources to experience a game day. For us, we want to bring that spirit back to them. What better way than to load up Aubie in this sweet ride? We don't want anybody to know we're coming. We literally want Aubie to knock on your door. And really our fans' reactions are priceless," Daniel Watkins, the senior associate AD for Marketing, said.Aubie will be back in the Birmingham area again Wednesday to thank more season ticket holders.
