A recent burglary in which a stolen car crashed into a high-end sneaker store in Kansas City's Westport neighborhood has prompted employees to call for improved security measures.
The aftermath of the crime has left the DVA Percent with a makeshift door, and employees are eager for a resolution.
"Very rarely. See a cop drive by every once in a while, Every couple of weeks. But almost none. So kind of like the crime scene, you know, it happens, but nothing ever really done about it." employee Aram Vudagov said.
DVA Percent sits at the corner of West 40th Street and Broadway Boulevard, in the middle of the roughly-square stretch the city defines as Westport, running from 39th Street down to 43rd, and Southwest Trafficway over to Main Street.
Employees feel the current security measures in the neighborhood aren't enough.
"It's just -- it's unfortunate," employee Grant Popovich said.
Both employees have concerns about the effectiveness of local security measures, particularly their response time and vigilance.
The employees are hopeful for a swift response and improved security measures for the neighborhood as a whole to prevent future incidents.
Kansas City police are still investigating the incident.
