This page covers what changes in The Divsion after players reach Agent Level 30.
After reaching the max player level, there's still much to do in The Division. Below you'll find tips, strategies and more for maximizing your time in New York after finish the main game's story.
What's New
Once you reach lvl 30 and have fully upgraded your Base of Operations, you'll notice that there are several new mission options and a new vendor to purchase weapons from.
- Special Gear Vendor: The SG vendor will appear in the Tech Wing of your BoO once you reach 30, and will sell gear and blueprints.
- Daily/Weekly Missions: These challenges, which rotate out on a daily or weekly basis, are re-plays of the Story Missions on varying difficulties that offer Phoenix Credits (and often High-End gear/weapons) as rewards.
- Challenging Difficulty: This difficulty option is unlocked after reaching max level, and requires a coordinate team of Agents to successfully accomplish. Upon your first playthrough of a mission on Challenging, you will be rewarded with Phoenix Credits.
What to Do After Hitting 30
Just because you've reached max level, that doesn't mean there isn't still a lot of cleaning up to do in New York. You'll want to make sure you've outfitted your agents with the best gear possible - here are the basics of what you need to do to bulk up your arsenal.
Team up
In order to earn the boatloads of Phoenix Credits you need to purchase the best gear and blueprints (as well as farm item drops from enemy bosses), you'll need to complete at least 3 missions per day on the Hard or Challenging difficulties.
While you may be able to tackle a Hard mission on your own, it's nigh impossible to complete a Challenging mission on your own. While the in-game matchmaking is good for a quick fix, it's best to reach out to friends and other players that you work well with so your squad can be at its best.
Create Different Builds
Once you've managed to team up with other Agents, it's important to figure out what your most effective role is in your squad. It depends on a combination of your play style and what skills you have available to you.
Example builds would include a Tank focused on absorbing as much damage as possible at the front line of your defenses (Attribute points spent almost entirely on Stamina), or the Support build that focuses on keeping their skills active and improving the team's skill cooldown times.
Grind Up Your DZ Rank
The next big challenge to work towards after reaching level 30 is increasing your Dark Zone ranking to 50. Once you hit fifty, you'll be able to purchase Superior and High-End weapons, gear and blueprints from Dark Zone vendors and merchants throughout the game world.
The quest to hit DZ rank 50 can also double as a way to farm High-End weapons and mods, since the enemies that give the most DZ EXP will also (usually) drop a High-End weapon or attachment, in addition to a few Phoenix Credits.
Farm Gear and Weapons
Once you reach level 30, the game essentially becomes a grind to outfit your Agents with as many pieces of High-End gear and High-End weapons as you can. This is accomplished both by farming Phoenix Credits, and by making continuous loops through the Dark Zone to collect (and dismantle) weapons, gear and additional PC and DZ$ as you go.
Farm Phoenix Credits
Phoenix Credits are high-level currency in The Division that can be used at certain vendors to purchase Superior and High-End gear. They can be earned by completing daily/weekly challenge missions and by killing named enemies in the Dark Zone. Check out our full breakdown of how to farm Phoenix Credits here.
Farm High-End Gear
High-End Gear are the gold-colored pieces of armor that players can find before and after reaching Lvl. 30. The most efficient way to acquire a full loadout of HE gear is to repeat the Lexington Events Center mission on Challenging difficulty.
Run the mission with a full fireteam of 4 players if possible - it can be accomplished with two, but will be far more difficult and take much longer. A well-coordinated squad of four can complete the mission in ~20 minutes. For completing the mission, the end-mission boss will drop a piece of High-End gear and players will earn around 20K Credits to spend at vendors.
High-End gear can also be crafted, depending on whether or not you have the required materials and appropriate blueprints.
Farm High-End Weapons/Mods
High-End Weapons are the top tier of The Division's armory. They can be crafted, purchased from vendors at your Base of Operations or in the Dark Zone, and picked up after defeating mini-bosses in the Dark Zone.
Unless you've got the 450K credits to purchase the Pakhan LMG from the Advanced Weapons vendor, we recommend crafting the high-end Vector 45 ACP as soon as possible - the blueprint is available from the AW vendor in the Security Wing of your BoO. It's high DPS and rate of fire make it an excellent choice for quickly clearing out a room full of hostiles or a street packed with Rogue Agents.
Dark Zone Farming Loops
Once you've completed your daily challenges, you'll need to keep grinding for Phoenix Credits and High-End loot. Here are our recommendations for which paths to take and which enemies to focus on when looping the Dark Zone for gear, credits and DZ EXP.
DZ01 - DZ02
The two southern-most areas of the Dark Zone will be where players who've just reached level 30 will want to begin farming. Venture too far north and you'll encounter enemies who are too difficult to kill with your currently equipped gear.
Starting from the E. 31st St. checkpoint, head west for a block and a half. You'll see some Elite Looters on opposite sides of the street just past the intersection of E 31st and Madison Ave. Here you'll find the mini-boss Bonnie and a locked DZ chest.
Next, head north to the Blockade landmark, at the border of DZ01 and 02 on 5th Avenue. Here you'll encounter a named Looter, either a Heavy or a Sniper. Once they're down make your way back to the Evac Site at 33rd and Madison to extract any loot you've collected, then return to the Checkpoint to restock on supplies and do it again.
DZ 03 - 04
This loop is perfect for players who don't quite have the gear to tackle DZ05 or 06, but have also outgrown DZ01 - DZ02.
From the E 42nd St. Checkpoint, head down and along E 41st St to reach the Refueling Station landmark. Here you'll find a mob of Rikers, along with a Named enemy, usually either a Heavy or a Grenadier.
From here, head north along 5th ave then take a left onto W 43rd St. Roughly halfway down the block there's a small parking lot that's been overtaken by another group of Rikers (usually a Sniper or Heavy leads these enemies). Eliminate them, claim your loot and make your way to the Evac Site on E 45th St then return to the checkpoint to restock.
Bonus Boss: If you've got room in your inventory and feel up to a challenge, there's a mob of Cleaners in the Contaminated Area next to the Evac Site. Engage with caution, however, as the two Heavy Flamers who travel with this group can prove a difficult enemy to overcome.
DZ 05 - DZ 06
This is perhaps the most efficient Loot Loop for higher-level DZ farmers, since the only enemies encountered are at the Landmarks and Evac Site, and it can be completed in ~ 10-15 minutes with a team of four.
Start by making your way to The Pit, formerly known as Rockefeller Plaza. Here you'll find an outfit of LMB soldiers led by a mini-boss, usually either a Heavy or an Engineer. There's also a locked DZ chest along the back wall of The Pit.
Next, make your way down W 52nd St. until you reach the 6th Ave intersection (at the Midtown Music / RCMH landmark). There's another LMB unit here, also with a Heavy/Engineer/Sniper mini-boss, plus a locked chest under the performance hall's marquee.
After collecting your goodies, head to the evac site on the roof of the building on 6th Ave (between 53rd and 55th). There are a few LMB soldiers guarding the roof, but no other enemies will spawn after they've been dispatched. Once your gear is secured, head for the Cathedral safehouse on 55th St to restock and reset the loop.
