Still Wakes the Deep Plot
Still Wakes the Deep is a linear, story-driven horror game that follows the adventures of a troubled man named Cameron “Caz” McCleary, who recently joined as a crew member on an old, somewhat decrepit oil rig in the middle of the ocean, as he believed it would be easier than dealing with problems on the mainland.
When disaster strikes due to the greed of a ruthless manager, the crew is forced to fight for their survival as the old rig begins to fall apart and becomes overrun by a mysterious creature from the depths of the ocean that’s killing their crewmates one by one.
Still Wakes the Deep follows in the footsteps of many walking-simulator-type games, as you only need your hands and puzzle-solving abilities to escape the creatures aboard.

Which Difficulty is Best For You?
Standard difficulty offers a balance of challenge and story, as you’ll need to use caution and speed to survive. If you’re caught or spotted by the creature during the story, you’ll simply die, and the game will reload to the last checkpoint, which is usually set quite frequently, especially during the more tricky escape encounters.
If you’re after something more chill, Story difficulty allows you to focus on the story of Still Wakes the Deep, as there’s a reduced fear of failing encounters that can typically result in your death.
While it’s up to you to select a mode that best suits your abilities, we recommend playing on Standard, as Still Wakes the Deep is very forgiving in many situations, and you are never punished for dying during tricky encounters, as reload checkpoints are frequently updated. In addition, difficulty can be lowered in the Options menu at any point throughout the game.
