DayZ is a zombie survival game set in a 225x225 km open-world post-Soviet state called Chernarus. Chernarus is one of the areas hit by a new and presently unknown infection which has wiped out most of the world's population. You are one of the few who have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population, now infected with the disease.
Development
Production on DayZ originally started with a MOD of ArmA II by an independent design team. Development and support continued on the MOD while a separate project (also called DayZ, or "DayZ Standalone") commenced on a separate, professionally-produced version of the game that could be played as a stand-alone product. Led by "Rocket" and a team at Bohemia Interactive (the original creators of ARMA,) DayZ Standalone uses the ARMA 2.5 engine and features an updated Chernarus map as well as a wealth of gameplay and technological improvements to deliver a more comprehensive, realistic apocalypse survival experience.
This game has been available as early access since 2013 on PC. The developers hope to bring it to PS4 at a later date.
During the Microsoft Conference at E3 2015, the DayZ dev team announced DayZ will be coming to Xbox One early under the Xbox Game Preview program.[1]

PS4 Announcement
DayZ was announced for PS4 at Gamescom 2014, on August 12, 2014.
Xbox One Announcement
DayZ was announced for Xbox Game Preview on June 15, 2015 at E3. Xbox Game Preview is a new program that allows Xbox One users to play games still in development.[2]
A Single Player Mode for DayZ was announced at the Microsoft Conference at E3 2015. This mode is for those who wish to play alone as the sole survivor of a zombie apocalypse. It's also useful for modders who want to test their mods alone before making them live to the world.[3]
The DayZ Development team hope to enter beta later this year. The team also announced early access on the Xbox One under the new Xbox Game Preview program.
