How to PvP
Sometimes, you need a little jolly cooperation in your life, but it is not exactly spelled out in Bloodborne how to go about that, so let us clear it up for you!
How to Summon Allies
Summoning allies only requires two items, the Beckoning Bell and some Insight. Once you have the Beckoning Bell, you can ring it anytime you want, so long as you have some Insight to spend. Each ring requires a single Insight].
How to be Summoned
If you want to be drawn into someone's world, you need a whole different set of bells. You need to visit the Insight Merchant in the Hunters Dream and purchase a Small Resonant Bell. You can ring this freely at any time, no Insight is needed. Once you ring it, the game will continually look for someone who has previously rang a Beckoning Bell. Once your two bells meet, you will be drawn into their world.
How To Invade
Invasions work a bit differently. In order to invade, you must first purchase the Sinister Resonant Bell from the Insight Merchant in the Hunters Dream. Once you have it, you can go to a zone and ring it.
If you are expecting to immediately join a game though, you better watch out. There are actually three things that can happen when you ring a Sinister Resonant Bell.
- Someone invades your world. When you ring a Sinister Bell, it marks your world as ready for invasion, so there is a chance that someone will invade you, instead of you going to them.
- Opposite of that, you might invade the world of someone who had rang their Sinister Bell.
- The final option is you invade a world where someone was looking for help, not invaders. Anytime you ring a Beckoning Bell, there is a chance you can get invaders, instead of helpers.
Some zones also have NPC characters who will ring a Sinister Resonant Bell. If you walk through a zone and the game tells you that a bell is ringing, that is because this zone has a NPC you must kill, as she will constantly ring a bell and try to draw people to your world.
A Note On Covenants
There are two opposing Covenants in Bloodborne, the Vilebloods and the Executioners. If you happen to be in one of these, and then get summoned into the world of an opposing covenant, you will be hostile to them, even if your original intent was to help them.
With that in mind, if you are looking to do some jolly cooperation, you should be mindful of which Oath you are currently using.
