Directional Buttons (Control Stick) | Move Character in a direction |
Circle Button | Strong Attack |
X Button | Drive Attack (Different and unique to each character) |
Triangle Button | Mid Attack |
Square Button | Weak Attack |
R Button (R Shoulder) | Taunt (Unique to each character) |
Each button command helps execute an attack that can be done alongside a direction input for a unique special attack that is different for every character. Other buttons, such as L Button, Start, Select, and the Right Stick, perform other functions such as pausing the game. The button configuration for all versions of the game can be customized to fit one's needs. Certain buttons can also be confirgured to execute combinations of buttons, such as Strong and Mid attack simultaneously.
Pressing a series of attacks in sequence will execute a combo, where all the attacks connect if the first in the series is successful. This is called a Revolver action. It is the bread and butter of most strategies for characters and the basis of winning a match. A basic Revolver Action combo is Weak, Mid, Strong, and Drive Attack. Relvover Actions can be followed up with special attacks for extra damage and knockback.
The Heat Gauge is the equivalant of a SUPER meter like most other fighting games. It is used to execute SUPER attacks and other advanced special moves. The Heat Gauge fills up as you attack and get hit by an opponent's attacks. When doing a SUPER or advanced technique, the gauge will deplete a set amount.
Much like other fighting games, throws are close-up, unblockable attacks that you can use against an opponent that consistently blocks. You can execute a throw when up close by hitting both Mid and Strong attack, in which you will then throw an opponent forward or behind you, depending on the direction you hold while throwing. You and your opponent can escape a throw by hitting Mid and Strong attack at the moment a Throw connects, if successful the character will knock the agressor back and escape the throw.
Overdrive temporarily increases the abilities of a character, making them stronger and/or faster in some cases. A character's overdrive is unique to them and can only be done when the Overdrive Icon (gauge) at the top of the screen is full and ready to engage. Once used, the Icon will refresh over time and be ready again to use when it is displaying Yellow. The less Health a character has, the longer the Overdrive will last when executed. Press all four attack buttons to go into Overdrive Mode.
This is an emergency break that helps get your character out of an opponents combo. When being attacked, hit all four attack buttons and your character will burst out of the attack that is incoming. This can be used even when taking damage and can only be done when the Overdrive Icon is full charged ready to use.
