Our Commitment to Positive Play
At Electronic Arts, we believe in the positive power of play. Gaming communities should be positive, fun, fair and safe for all players. Our goal is to create games, stories, worlds and characters as diverse as the communities we serve, uniting players around the world and expanding the positive power of play.
Positive Play Charter
Like most communities, we have positive play guidelines to help make sure our games and services are an enjoyable experience for all players. Whether you’re new to gaming or have been an active player for years, we need your help to make this a community we all want to be part of.
Player and Parental Tools
When using EA’s online services, you can play, chat and, in some cases, share other content with players including friends. The first step in ensuring you, and your family, have a positive and safe experience when playing is understanding the tools available to you.
Moderation and Enforcement
It’s really important to us that you have fun in EA experiences, so we use a few different methods to keep disruptive behavior out of your way including filtering, content review, and in-game reporting.
Inclusive Design
We design our games to make every player feel welcome, seen, heard, and supported, without any barriers to play. This supports our goal to create games, stories, worlds and characters that are as diverse as the communities we serve, uniting players around the world through the power of play.
Apex Legends
With the release of Season 15, Apex Legends introduced its first playable transgender woman character, Catalyst. Her trans identity is heavily featured in the game and serves as a source of power and wisdom.
The Sims
The Sims 4 now includes content dedicated to disability representation such as medical wearables like hearing aids and glucose monitors and trans-affirming customization options like top surgery scars and binders.
EA SPORTS
FIFA23 introduced women’s club teams and a collaboration on in-game kits with messages about eradicating racism and discrimination in football. We also launched the ‘Starting X1 Fund’ to help grow the game.
Accessibility Patent Pledge
Our accessibility patent pledge allows every developer and publisher in the wider industry to use our accessibility-centered technology, royalty-free. The end goal is to encourage our industry to make games more inclusive by removing unintended barriers for people experiencing a range of conditions who may benefit from accessible design.
