The 40/29 Winner of the Week is NWA Ice Hog, Audrey Middlebrook.
While hockey is still considered to be a growing sport in Arkansas, that hasn't stopped Middlebrook from paving her own way on the ice.
She has been playing hockey with the NWA Ice Hogs for the past four years. However, later this summer, she will be taking her talents up north.
Middlebrook became the first-ever female Ice Hog to advance her game to the next level, signing with the Connecticut Junior Rangers U19 AAA All-Girls team in May.
As the lone female on her NWA High School squad this past season, Middlebrook shared what this new opportunity means to her and the impact she hopes to have on younger girls in the area.
“I think it is great for them to see someone going to the next level, like that it’s possible and that there’s something to look forward to, a goal to reach,” said Middlebrook. “A couple years ago, it was just me and my friend that were the only girls here, so it’s great to see there’s so many more girls, and they’re all having fun and not hiding in the corners.”
Middlebrook will spend the rest of the summer training in NWA before heading to Connecticut in August.
