Invincible Fight Girl said “square up!”

With shows like My Adventures with Superman and Rick and Morty: The Anime, Adult Swim has been pretty covered on the superhero and sci-fi fronts. But the programming block is about to get more sporty with Juston Gordon-Montgomery’s Invincible Fight Girl — a new wrestling / action series that looks sick as hell in this preview clip.

Netflix’s Bioshock movie is still coming, albeit with a smaller scope and budget.

Netflix has been so quiet about its Bioshock film adaptation that it almost seemed as if the project might have been put on the back burner. But during a panel at this year’s SDCC, producer Roy Lee assured fans that, while Netflix has “reconfigured” the movie to be smaller and more personal, it’s still very much in the works.

Canada suspends women's soccer coach as the drone spying scandal widens.

Canadian officials now say that in addition to the drone practice spying incident earlier this week, "additional information has come to our attention regarding previous drone use against opponents, predating the Paris 2024 Olympic Games."

Canada Soccer CEO & General Secretary Kevin Blue:

In light of these new revelations, Canada Soccer has made the decision to suspend Women’s National Soccer Team Head Coach, Bev Priestman for the remainder of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and until the completion of our recently announced independent external review.

No one rivals Doom...except another Doom.

San Diego Comic Con is in full swing starting off strong with new trailers from Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and now Marvel Rivals. The new cinematic trailer lays out the stakes for the game with multiple Dr. Dooms from different timelines summoning teams of Marvel heroes from across the Multiverse. Their job: fight in order to determine which Doom is the doomiest of them all.

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles looks ready to rock.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’s grimy, sketchy aesthetic was one of the coolest things about the film. And judging from the opening sequence of Paramount Plus’ new Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the spin-off’s take on the film’s visual language is going to be just as inspired.

Steve Buscemi is Starscream in Transformers One’s new trailer.

Though the new Transformers One trailer doesn’t feature nearly enough of Steve Buscemi’s Starscream, it does reveal quite a bit of the film’s general story — which might be a feature rather than a bug if you were on the fence about catching it in theaters on September 20th.

Jackbox’s “Megapicker” for PC comes out next week.

The free launcher, announced last month, will let you access Jackbox games you own from one place instead of having to hunt around through individual party packs.

You can wishlist the Megapicker on Steam right now ahead of its release on July 29th. It won’t have controller support at launch, but that should follow “pretty quickly after,” according to a developer AMA.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been verified for Steam Deck.

Also, “we’ll be Steam native — meaning the EA App will not be required to play the game,” according to BioWare. This is great news; I’ve loved Mass Effect: Legendary Edition on the Steam Deck, but logging in to the EA App can be a pain.

The Veilguard is set to release this fall. More launch details are coming “later this summer,” BioWare says.

According to a release by French prosecutors, Joseph Lombardi, the “unaccredited analyst” with Canada’s Olympic women’s soccer team, accepted a suspended eight month imprisonment sentence after admitting to spying on New Zealand’s team to learn its tactics.

The sport’s governing body has opened proceedings against Canada Soccer, while New Zealand has asked that no points be awarded to Canada if it wins today.

Jeff Goldblum is the father of all jealous and vengeful gods in Kaos’ new trailer.

We’ve all seen Jeff Goldblum lean into his quirkiness, but the menacing regality of his take on Zeus is what really jumps out in the first trailer for Netflix’s upcoming series Kaos due out August 29th.

Shaun of The Dead is clawing its way back into theaters this fall.

It has been 20 years since Edgar Wright kicked off his (Three Flavours) Cornetto Trilogy with Shaun of the Dead, and to celebrate the film’s legacy, a remastered cut of it is being re-released in US and UK theaters beginning August 29th and September 27th, respectively.

Yes, again.

It’s another delay for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, but at least this one is relatively short: the game is now coming out on November 20th instead of September 5th. The developers says that “these two additional months will give us the chance to fix more ‘unexpected anomalies’ (or simply ‘bugs,’ as you call them).”

Grindr is again blocked in the Olympic Village.

No, this isn’t another cardboard bed situation — the reasons for blocking the app make sense and mirror similar actions that Grindr took during the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, after it was used to out a number of athletes during the previous Rio Games.

Bullying works.

Last week, Apex Legends announced a new battle pass structure. Among the changes — like splitting the battle pass into two halves and increasing the number of levels — was the news that battle passes could no longer be purchased with Apex coins. Everyone disliked that, so much so that Respawn has issued a new statement saying that it will once again allow Apex coins to purchase battle passes.

A quip barrage.

If Deadpool & Wolverine isn’t enough to satiate your need for one-liners in a blockbuster movie, Borderlands is here for you. The latest trailer is full of even more Guardians of the Galaxy-style humor, much like the game it’s based on, and you can check it out in theaters on August 9th.

While the Earth Defense Force series satisfies one, the other has remained hungry until now. Launching November 7th, Empire of Ants is a new, hyper-realistic ant management simulator that has you finding food, fighting enemy insects and generally living your wildest A Bug’s Life fantasies.
