About this ebook

In her stunning 200th novel, #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts proves why no one is better “when it comes to flawlessly fusing high-stakes suspense with red-hot romance" (Booklist, starred review).

Daughter of a cold, controlling mother and an anonymous donor, studious, obedient Elizabeth Fitch finally let loose one night, drinking too much at a nightclub and allowing a strange man’s seductive Russian accent to lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive.

Twelve years later, the woman now known as Abigail Lowery lives alone on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance security systems designer, her own protection is supplemented by a fierce dog and an assortment of firearms. She keeps to herself, saying little, revealing nothing. Unfortunately, that seems to be the quickest way to get attention in a tiny southern town.

The mystery of Abigail Lowery and her sharp mind, secretive nature and unromantic viewpoint intrigues local police chief Brooks Gleason, on both a personal and professional level. And while he suspects that Abigail needs protection from something, Gleason is accustomed to two-bit troublemakers, not the powerful and dangerous men who are about to have him in their sights.

And Abigail Lowery, who has built a life based on security and self-control, is at risk of losing both.

The Witness by Nora Roberts is another outstanding story! I listened to the audiobook. Honestly, I really don’t know what to say. The characters were phenomenal. I could understand how the young, brilliant Elizabeth turned into the OCDC Abigail. Anyone would have in her shoes assuming they lived long enough! And Brooks is such a good guy, you just want to hug him! Then there’s the story line. Oh, my goodness! Talk about keeping someone on the edge of their seat! I knew I needed to stop listening, but I just couldn’t leave Abigail and Brooks alone. I had to know what was going to happen to their story: if they were going to live happily ever after. You’re going to have to listen or read the book to find out for yourself. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Nora Roberts does it again. An intriguing story with loads of twists and turns. I wonder...what would it be like to have all those stories in my head. I think it would implode. But she just keeps cranking them out. You HAVE to appreciate and respect that! I will keep reading Nora's books...for as long as she continues to write them! I don't know what else to say except, read this book! Try her 'In death's series...just so wonderful!

I was very disappointed with this book. Unlike most of her novels they stay off exciting and end the same. This too me was like opening a can of biscuits you get a big pop in the beginning and that's it. Not one I would recommend.
