Nathan Yau, who runs FlowingData, put together a nifty scrolling app that allows you to sift through America's most and least selective colleges, based on data from the 2022-23 academic year.

To remove inconsistencies from the data, which came from the Department of Education's College Scorecard, Yau kept the undergraduate cutoff at 500 students. This gave him 1,400 schools.

The most selective institute — California Institute of Technology — had an acceptance rates as low as 2.7 percent, while acceptance rates at other selective schools, such as ivies like Harvard and Columbia, along with Stanford and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, were around three percent.
