Few of us can resist reading things we know will only make us angry, and the quickest way to get riled up is to take a look at the staggering sums the world's wealthiest people are making.

Using analysis by The Wall Street Journal and MyLogIQ, the team at Visual Capitalist charted the top 10 highest-earning CEOs of S&P 500 companies in 2023. Their figures include both equity and cash pay.

Topping the ranking is Hock Tan, head of chipmaker Broadcom, whose total pay was a mind-boggling $161.8 million. Following behind is Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora ($151.4 million), and Stephen Schwarzman, CEO of global private equity firm the Blackstone Group ($119.8 million).
