Jordan dreams of the days when she was a Lost Boy, flying high with Peter Pan and imbued witht he power of Dust.

Now she’s twenty-two and barely hanging on. After being exiled from the Island by Peter for her gender, Jordan turned to a toxic drug to self-medicate her withdrawal symptoms from Dust. But the drug has stopped working, and its final effects are fatal.

With nothing left to lose, she returns to the fated Island of her childhood, determined to seek out the magic that will keep her alive. But as she faces the boy who stripped her of the story that’s kept her afloat, Jordan finds that her thirst for revenge is much stronger than she anticipated...

Review

“In intoxicating, phantasmagorical prose, These Deathless Shores gives us the existential horror of childhoods shadowed by the future betrayal of the body by itself. Fear and denial, heartlessness and cruelty – but also love, and self-determination – combine perfectly in this unremittingly powerful, bleeding gut wound of a book.” --– Shelley Parker-Chan, bestselling author of the Radiant Emperor series

"Gorgeous and unforgiving, THESE DEATHLESS SHORES is the Captain Hook origin story I never knew I needed. Come for the lush expansiveness of the world, stay for the incisive examination of gender, colonialism, and ambition. This book will sink its teeth into you and not let go." --– Grace D. Li, New York Times bestselling author of Portrait of a Thief

"These Deathless Shores is a snappy, absorbing retelling of Peter Pan. Gleaming prose illuminates a gritty world which intersperses harsh reality with moments of tenderness.” --– Neon Yang, author of The Genesis of Misery

Top review from United Kingdom

Usually I love a dark take on Peter Pan, but this one overall just didn't work for me. The world building was stellar - a really satisfying mix of familiar elements and the authors own twist - but I couldn't stand a single one of the characters. So things were a little bit up and down for me! Definitely worth giving a go if the blurb appeals though - I suspect this book will find a lot of fans!

It started out interesting, with the whole Peter Pan association. It doesn’t make sense of how it’s all connected. It’s not clear of what year it is. Where are they and what are all these languages they speak. How can anybody just fly to never land like Chay did looking for her sister. There was no conclusion to who or what Peter was. How did he get there originally? I am happy this book is over. I only continued hoping all those loose ends would be tied up in the epilogue. So disappointed. So much wasted time.
