Been hiring these guys for years, from security gates to cylinder changes, to replacement locksets, and have never been disappointed. Recently had them replace a lockset and install a new deadbolt. The work done by the original installer was a hot mess. Hector from Joseph Lock corrected each problem by installing new hardware, and now everything works perfectly. His work is meticulous, accurate, and professional. Well done, and thank you.

I have been 2 times in this store and twice I was mistreated. No cordiality, no greetings. Recently, I had guests and needed a spare key. The one I had was not working. I took it to this store and the man told me he didn't make that key. He told me it was "cheap" and badly cut. Unnecessary comment, but no problem there, I was not sure were that key was made anyways and I never said he made it.
He asked me $5 to make another one, which I agreed. When I got home, the new key didn't open the door (also badly cut, I guess). I came back next morning (on Saturday) and the store was closed - Huge inconvenience because I needed the key for my guests. I returned on Monday, he took the key from my hand without a word, fixed it and gave back to me, NOT A WORD. No apologies for the bad key or for my problems, no Thank You for my business. I looked at him for a few seconds, totally choked, he looked back at me and said unfriendly and grouchy: WHAT?
I don't know if I am a romantic or what, but wasn't local/small business suppose to be that warm, pleasant experience?
My advice: Support Jackson Heights Supplies on 37th/88 St - Very well organized hardware store, exceptional friendly people and they have a locksmith. Just what I dreamed of!

The words, "No" and "We can't do that" are not part of the vocabulary at Joseph Lock & Alarm. I have an older BMW with a key fob with a rechargeable battery that is made NOT to be replaced. When the key stopped working in Vermont, I called every locksmith in the state, and nobody wanted to touch it. The dealers charge $$$$$$ to replace this key. On line tutorials said the battery could be replaced, but it's really very complicated, and a pain in the neck. When I got back to Queens, I went to my go to guy, Hector, and asked if he could replace the battery. He looked at it, said no problem, and all he had to do was order the battery. Within only a couple of days, Hector had the key fob working again! And the price he charged was more than fair and reasonable, especially with all the work he had to do! If you have a foreign car that needs a battery replaced that requires a lot of work, I HIGHLY recommend going to Joseph Lock first before the dealer. You will be very happy with the service and price. And besides you'll be supporting a family owned business.
