Nancy L. Schwartz

Nancy Schwartz studies and teaches classical political theory from Plato and Aristotle to Freud and Arendt.  She has written on Marx and Weber, modern political representation, courage in Greek and Jewish thought, women, and equality. She has written a paper with Sam Rosenfeld on the 1968 challenge to the Georgia delegation to the Democratic National Convention and its implications for political parties.

Nancy Schwartz was born in New York City and attended Oberlin College and the London School of Economics and Political Science. She received an M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Yale. She has lived in London and Jerusalem and served on the local Democratic ward committee in New Haven. She is a member of Congregation Adath Israel in Middletown, CT.
