Clarence M. Mitchell IV, known to WBAL listeners as “C4” or “Mr. Baltimore,” hosts the C4 and Bryan Nehman show weekday mornings from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on WBAL NewsRadio 1090AM and FM 101.5.

C4 joined WBAL as a part-time talk-show-host in 2006, making the transition to full-time just one year later in 2007.

Prior to joining WBAL, C4 served in the Maryland House of Delegates and Maryland Senate as a member of the Democratic Party, serving as a State Delegate from Maryland’s 44th legislative district from January 1995 to January 1999 and a State Senator from the same district from January 1999 to January 2003.That Senate seat was the same seat once held by his father, Clarence M. Mitchell III, and uncle Michael B. Mitchell.

He is originally from Baltimore City, Maryland and graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, later attending the University of Maryland, College Park, University of Maryland, Baltimore County and Morgan State University.

Among his accomplishments is the creation of the “Orioles Reach Program,” which provides complimentary tickets for Norfolk Tides home games  to groups and individuals in the Norfolk area who otherwise may not be able to attend games at Harbor Park.     

He is a father to 2 sons and 1 daughter whom enjoys spending time with outside of work.

During his tenure at WBAL, C4 has been nominated twice as a finalist for the NAB Marconi Radio Award (Large Market Personality of the Year), received multiple Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association (CAPBA) 1st Place Outstanding Talk Show Awards, twice named Baltimore Sun Reader’s Choice Talk Show Host of the Year, Baltimore Sun’s Best Radio Broadcast and  Baltimore Magazine Reader’s Poll Best Radio Host.

Bryan Nehman

 

Bryan Nehman joined WBAL News Radio as a news anchor and host of the predecessor to the C4 and Bryan Nehman Show, Maryland’s Morning News, in 2012.

He and C4 have co-hosted their weekday 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. program since July of 2020, taking pride in the diversity he and C4 have developed and invited into their talk show.

Bryan’s radio career began with an internship for the Bowie Baysox, which helped him secure his first full-time opportunity handling news at WNAV in Annapolis.

Nehman began working as a news reporter at WMAL Radio in D.C. in 2000, where he was soon promoted to morning drive anchor.  He later reported live from the Pentagon on 9/11, was on the scene of the sniper shootings that had the region on edge in the early 2000’s, and also traveled to Atlanta to report on the University of Maryland’s 2004 men’s basketball national championship.  He’s also served as the public address announcer for Navy Basketball and sideline reporter for Navy Football.  Throughout his career, Nehman has won numerous awards for reporting and anchoring, including multiple Edward R. Murrow awards.

Bryan’s philanthropic efforts include hosting the Corporate Plunge during the annual Special Olympics of Maryland Polar Bear Plunge; hosting the Hospice of the Chesapeake’s annual Fashion for a Cause fundraiser,  fundraising for the Fisher House Foundation; and volunteering for the Maryland Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

He was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Crofton, graduating from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in history.

His passion for the airwaves developed when he was just a kid, spending his nights listening to out of state stations.

The talk show host has been married to his wife Shelley for over 20 years and the two have three sons that in his words “keep us driving all over the country watching them play travel soccer.”
