Tom Holland film pushed back six months to avoid pandemic lockdowns
Sony’s Uncharted movie has been delayed more than six months to February 1, 2022, Sony Pictures has announced.
The studio confirmed the change along with a number of other movie delays on Thursday – most notably including the next James Bond movie – which are a result of cinemas being closed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The Uncharted movie is being directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom, Zombieland) and stars Tom Holland in the lead role as adventurer Nathan Drake, while his mentor Victor Sullivan is played by Mark Wahlberg.
Rather than following the plot of the games, which have sold over 41 million units, the movie will tell a prequel story featuring Nathan Drake as a young treasure hunter learning from his mentor.

The movie’s cast also reportedly includes Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle.
Holland also previously chatted with Naughty Dog vice president and Uncharted 4 co-director Neil Druckmann, who said the film set “looked insane”.
The Uncharted movie is the first feature film from PlayStation Productions, a studio formed by Sony Interactive Entertainment to adapt its original game properties for film and television.
The first TV series from PlayStation Productions will be a HBO adaptation of The Last of Us, co-written and executive produced by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Druckmann, the creative director of the game series.
