Ebony Jane Simpson was murdered in Bargo, New South Wales on 19 August 1992. She was only nine years old. After an extensive search involving over 300 people, officers arrested a local man, Andrew Garforth and questioned him. It took less than fifteen minutes for him to admit to abducting Ebony whilst she was walking home from school. Garforth even went to the extent of showing officers where he had left the body – throwing Ebony into a dam after sexually assaulting her.

Gun is an American television anthology series which aired on ABC on Saturday night from April 12, to May 31, 1997 at 10:00 p.m Eastern time. The series lasted six episodes, each directed by a well-known director, before being cancelled. Each episode involves the same semi-automatic pistol as an important part of the plot. The characters each episode are completely different and appeared unrelated to those who appeared in other episodes. The series was produced by Robert Altman and attracted numerous recognizable stars including Fred Ward, Kathy Baker, Carrie Fisher, Daryl Hannah, Randy Quaid, and Martin Sheen, as well as James Gandolfini in his first television appearance. The theme song was a cover of The Beatles' "Happiness Is a Warm Gun", performed by U2.
The show opens with a girl who yearns to be popular and liked in her school. She wishes she was in the "in-crowd", however, she goes about unnoticed in school everyday. The only girl who truly notices her is her best friend Thelma. For some strange reason though, Cassie feels like she is being followed by a man. This is only the beginning of her problem...
