Overall Satisfaction with Monetate

I use it in emails to create product recommendation zones. I communicate to our UX/UI designer what I need as far as recommendation zones. I have also gone in and created them myself and had his team update the code.

Pros

  • It provides code that can be applied to emails.

Cons

  • In our experience, the customer service and communication is not great. Our account representative was hard to get in contact with and would allow meetings to fall off the calendar.
  • In my opinion, the site is not super user friendly. I have a hard time remembering how to navigate it each time.
  • Adding Monetate zones to emails during promotions increased clicks, click rates, revenue, and rpe.
Our account manager was hard to get a hold of and customer service is not much help. Meetings often fell off the calendar and he would not be proactive and reschedule them. He did not communicate product updates very well.
We only used product recommendations in email. It was nice how customizable they were.

I think it worked for creating recommendation zones in emails, but it seemed like these would easily break over time. I felt like we were constantly redoing these zones instead of being able to use the same ones. Many ESPs now provide product recommendation builders in house and these can be more convenient, straight forward, and user friendly.
