Call it a light snack?

On July 3, a TikToker named Tatiana (@tatianaaaatt) posted a video about a peculiar bag of chips she purchased that went viral, garnering 1.1 million views at the time of writing.

“So, someone from Frito-Lay, you need to be fired,” Tatiana says in the video. “I bought this yesterday from Walmart.”

Showing a 42-count multipack of Frito-Lay Snack Chips from the retailer, Tatiana then singles out a pack of Funyuns, the popular onion-flavored corn snack. She gives the bag a shake, and something seems amiss, as it doesn’t sound like a full bag of chips.

“This is closed. Hold on,” she says.

Tatiana puts her phone down, opens the bag in full view of the camera and shows off the interior of the bag. Inside, there’s one single Funyun, all by its lonesome.

“Who’s trying to be funny?” Tatiana asks the camera, suppressing a laugh and showing off the single onion snack again. “That’s not right.”

In her caption, Tatiana asks Frito-Lay to “please send” her some chips, asking for the identity of the factory worker who filled the bag.

Meanwhile, the comments section on the video has more than 5,000 commenters offering their two cents.

“just oneyun 😔,” one TikToker wrote in the top-liked comment.

“@Frito-Lay no because I would have called the FBI CIA Scooby Doo and the Gang,” wrote another commenter, joining many others who tagged the snack company looking for answers.

“I’d rather it be empty than have just one single chip 😭😭,” remarked another.

“Even the crumbs are missing 😂😭,” wrote one more, with Tatiana replying with, “Lmfao deada-- no crumbs.”

For Tatiana, who asked that we only use her first name to protect her identity, her video’s virality comes as a shock.

“I definitely was not expecting this to happen,” Tatiana tells TODAY.com via TikTok direct message. “Out of nowhere, I was getting so many views, comments and likes.”

Tatiana says, though she finds the whole ordeal funny, she also appreciates people having her back by tagging Frito-Lay. She notes that many of the commenters claimed this happened to them, too.

“I definitely deserve some free chips!” she says.

Walmart did not immediately respond to TODAY.com’s request for comment.

Meanwhile, Frito-Lay says it’s trying to figure out what went wrong.

“We’re working to get in touch with Tatiana to make this right,” a Frito-Lay representative tells TODAY.com. “No one is ever happy with just one Funyun — our teams will get to the bottom of how this happened so consumers receive the quality and value they expect every time, with every bag.”

As Tatiana mentioned, she is far from the first person to receive a disappointing prepackaged snack. Many folks on Reddit have posted their experiences opening a bag of chips only to find crumbs (or less) inside.

In February, one Reddit user posted a video in r/mildlyinfuriating of them opening a bag of Doritos and dumping out a single chip and a couple of crumbs.

“Bag of chip,” one person commented.
