Word on the street is that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez‘s kids are taking a page out of a young Lindsay Lohan’s book. (Or Hayley Mills, if they’re partial to the OG The Parent Trap.) Because while Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are reportedly calling things quits, their kids are allegedly trying to piece things back together.
According to a source who spoke to The Daily Mail, the kids — Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, who Affleck shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, and 16-year-old kids Max and Emme, who Lopez shares with ex Marc Anthony — believe the two are “soul mates” a la the fictional Nick Parker and Elizabeth James. All they need is a little nudge.
“The kids think Jennifer and Ben are really, deeply in love, like soul mates and they don’t want them to divorce,” the insider said. “They want them to work it out for better or for worse, like their vows said. And they do feel that the two should continue counseling and talking it out, even if it is painful.”
Now, will the Affleck and Lopez kids switch places and cross borders in order to reunite their parents? Well … that’s not really how this could play out. But they reportedly do have other tricks up their sleeve to get their parents back together before the singer’s birthday at the end of the month.
They’re apparently going to “highlight the positive attributes” of each A-lister.
“[Affleck] is a prickly one, he can be grumpy, that is true for sure, he is not a happy-go-lucky kind of dude, even if he is very intelligent and funny. The kids are trying to get him to lighten up and let stuff go,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Max and Emme are allegedly encouraging their mom to “work less and relax more.”
Not only do the five supposedly want to keep the seemingly estranged “soul mates” together for the adults’ sake, but for their own. They “get along great,” per the insider. And — just like Annie and Hallie — would hate to be split up. Luckily, the kids have still spent time together. In their first photo together since rumors of a split started circulating, Lopez and Affleck were seen with Emme going to see Seraphina’s high school performance. And it’s nice to see that even amidst the drama, the t(w)eens can spend time together … be it watching a performance, or orchestrating one of their own.
