Copyright and Re-use

of Materials

 

All textual content on this website (www.privacy.bm) is available under the CC BY Licence. This licence allows re-users to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, provided that attribution is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use.

CC BY includes the following elements:

 


BY  – Credit must be given to the creator.


If you wish to re-use text content under the CC BY licence, you must include the following attribution:

“The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Bermuda (PrivCom), [name and date of publication], licensed under the CC BY Licence.”


Since we update our guidance and other materials regularly, we recommend that you use the latest version of our guidance and other materials by referring to PrivCom’s website. Please note that the materials you previously downloaded or obtained from PrivCom, or from elsewhere, may not be up to date. 

PrivCom’s intellectual property rights, including copyright in its materials, still belong to PrivCom and remain unaffected by PrivCom’s voluntary application of the CC BY Licence. 

Images

In some cases, copyright to images is held by a third party. That is why images are not available for re-use under the CC BY licence and you should contact the copyright owner should you wish to re-use them. As for images owned by PrivCom, PrivCom does not grant anyone any rights to re-use the images from www.privacy.bm or from its social media platforms.

 

Use of logos

The use of any of PrivCom’s logos on any document and/or in association with any information means that the document or information has been prepared and/or approved by PrivCom. The logos are used only on materials generated by PrivCom.

 

The use of any of PrivCom’s logos without PrivCom’s consent infringes the copyright held in respect of the logos. No permission will be granted for the use of the logos, nor will reproduction of the logos in any form be allowed unless PrivCom determines that the material on which the logos is to be used and the use of the logos on such material have been expressly approved by PrivCom.

 

Contacting the P&C Unit

Should you wish to re-use PrivCom’s materials, but the proposed re-use would contravene any of the conditions of the CC BY Licence, you should contact PrivCom’s Policy & Communications Unit at communications@privacy.bm.

 

Your application to re-use PrivCom's materials must be in writing, specifying the name and address of the person who wishes to re-use PrivCom’s materials, identifying the information source you want to re-use and the purpose for re-use.
