Elden Ring players who spend ample time exploring Limgrave and Stormveil Castle will likely happen on Nepheli Loux and Kenneth Haight. The two characters’ stories initially seem unrelated, but take the right steps, and they’ll ultimately tie together. With this Elden Ring guide, you’ll complete Nepheli and Kenneth’s questlines, and even find a new ruler to sit on Godrick’s throne.

Chapter 1: Meet the players

Step 1: Kenneth Haight calling

You’ll first encounter Kenneth Haight in Limgrave, not too far from the starting area. He’s standing atop a chunk of ruins north of the Mistwood; you’ll know you’re close when you start to hear him calling for help.

Once engaged, he asks you to retake his fort, which has been overrun by soldiers from Stormveil.

Step 2: Recapture Fort Haight

Travel through the Mistwood to the south, and follow the road when it curves to the east. You’ll eventually arrive at Fort Haight, which can be reclaimed by killing all the enemies inside. Don’t miss the Golden Seed just outside the entrance.

Step 3: Return to Kenneth

Return to Kenneth on his ruin fragment and exhaust his dialogue, and he’ll eventually relocate to the upper floor of his fort. You can speak to him again there, but there’s nothing more to do with him for the time being.

Chapter 2: Nepheli Loux, Warrior

Instead, proceed through Limgrave to Stormveil Castle, where you’ll meet the next character in this story.

Step 4: The scene of a crime

You’ll meet Nepheli for the first time in a small room located south of the Secluded Cell site of grace in Stormveil Castle. (If you’d like help navigating this labyrinthine environment, check out our detailed Stormveil Castle guide.) Nepheli has apparently just finished dispensing with some enemy, and she requests that you allow her to help you defeat Godrick, Stormveil’s wayward lord.

You can find her summon sign outside Godrick’s boss fog; however, you don’t actually need to summon her to proceed, as she’ll move to her next step either way once you defeat the boss.

Step 5: The Arsenal Charm

After defeating Godrick, warp to the Roundtable Hold. As long as you’ve spoken with Gideon since first arriving in the Hold, Nepheli will be present in the library outside Gideon’s office. Exhaust her dialogue and she’ll provide you with the useful Arsenal Charm, which increases your maximum equip weight. Thanks Nepheli!

Chapter 3: Pathways

You’ll next meet Nepheli in southern Liurnia, at the Village of the Albinaurics.

Step 6: Crimes against humanity

Nepheli rests on the path to the village, where she’ll lament the crimes done to the people there. You can summon her for the fight with Omenkiller, though doing so is unnecessary for progressing her quest.

When you return to Roundtable Hold, she’ll be crouched downstairs, having grown disillusioned with Gideon’s leadership since learning what happened at the village.

Step 7: Get bent, Seluvis

At this point in the quest, if you’ve met Seluvis at the Three Sisters in northern Liurnia, he may ask you to give Nepheli a potion. Because Seluvis is a huge douche — and also because it will prematurely end Seluvis’s questline — you’re probably not going to want to do that. Instead, speak with Gideon, tell him about the potion, and allow him to dispose of it, then return to Seluvis and let him think whatever he wants.

Step 8: Back on track

Your next stop is the Chapel of Anticipation — the first location where you spawned in the game, and the site of your first death, likely to the Grafted Scion boss located there. To return to the chapel, you’ll need an Imbued Sword Key. You can find one at The Four Belfries in eastern Liurnia, which, conveniently, is also where you need to use it.

Grab the key and find the teleporter with a message next to it that mentions the “precipice of anticipation,” and use the key to activate the teleporter. Defeat the boss there and explore the small area until you find a key item called Stormhawk King.

Return to the Hold and give it to Nepheli. Note that you must have advanced Roderika’s storyline to the point that she can upgrade spirit ashes; this is done mainly by talking with her and with the blacksmith, Hewg, whenever you visit the Hold, and chances are you’ve already done it.

Chapter 4: Convergence

You’re almost done, and this is where these quests finally converge.

Step 9: Defeat Morgott

To encounter both Nepheli and Kenneth Haight in their final location, you’ll need to have completed the Capital, Leyndell, and defeated the boss there, Morgott. (Check out our guide to defeating Morgott if you’d like a little help.)

Step 10: A new lord

After doing so — but before defeating Maliketh in Farum Azula — return to the courtyard where you defeated Godrick. Nepheli and Kenneth will be inside the throne room; if they aren’t there, try resting at Godrick’s site of grace to make them appear.

Speak to both characters to learn that Nepheli has assumed the throne of Limgrave, which satisfy’s Kenneth’s search for a new lord to follow. Nepheli will give you an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, a fine reward that will let you upgrade one armament to the highest possible level.

Lastly, if Gatekeeper Gostoc is still alive, he’ll be present as well. Exhaust his dialogue until he offers to sell you items, and you can purchase another Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone from him.

And that’s the end of Nepheli, Kenneth, and Gostoc’s side quests. Looking for more? Check out our guide to Millicent’s storyline.
