See New Cards from the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Shrouded Fable Expansion

Let the story of Kitakami unfold as you discover Pecharunt ex, Binding Mochi, and more in this upcoming expansion.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game Scarlet & Violet—Shrouded Fable expansion continues to introduce mystical Pokémon from the land of Kitakami, including the Mythical Pokémon Pecharunt as a brand-new Pokémon ex. The story begins with Pecharunt ex, but we have more unique cards to unveil today from the over 95 new cards ready to be discovered when the expansion launches on August 2, 2024.

Pecharunt ex

The treacherous Pecharunt makes its Pokémon TCG debut as a Pokémon ex with a uniquely poisonous power that’s thematically appropriate for the Subjugation Pokémon. Its Subjugating Chains Ability makes it so that you can switch one of your Benched Darkness Pokémon—except any Pecharunt ex—with your Active Pokémon. If you do, the new Active Pokémon is now Poisoned, but that’s a small price to pay for a powerful pivoting effect. It can even benefit certain Pokémon or Trainer cards…just like the next card featured in our preview!

Binding Mochi

If you’ve played Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet’s epilogue, you’ll probably recognize this mochi. Thankfully, attaching this Pokémon Tool card won’t have the same spooky effect on your Pokémon. When you attach Binding Mochi to your Poisoned Pokémon, their attacks will do 40 more damage to the opponent’s Active Pokémon. That’s a pretty hefty damage modifier at the cost of your Pokémon taking 10 damage between turns, but you know what they say—no pain, no gain.

Iron Moth

Illustrator Shinji Kanda does it again with a highly detailed illustration that fully captures the wonder of the Paradox Pokémon Iron Moth. The sleek and mechanical-looking Pokémon is perfectly centered among a batch of highly futuristic flowers that showcase its penchant for the cutting edge. As such, its Anachronism Repulsor attack fits its aesthetic perfectly, and it prevents all damage done to this Pokémon by attacks from Ancient Pokémon too.

Cresselia

The majesty of the Lunar Pokémon is on full display as Cresselia roams through the skies, potentially preparing for an inevitable sunset and the soon-to-come brilliantly bright moon. Its Crescent Purge attack is just as illuminating, allowing you to turn one of your face-down Prize cards face up, doing 80 more damage and leaving that Prize card face up for the rest of the game. Doing 160 damage for three Energy is certainly strong, but revealing a key piece of information in your Prize cards can really make or break any battle.

Zoroark

Are you tired of those big, powerful Pokémon ex and Pokémon V? Now’s your chance to strike back with the Illusion Fox Pokémon Zoroark and its Illusory Hijacking attack! For just 2 Colorless Energy, this attack does 60 damage for each of your opponent’s Pokémon ex and Pokémon V in play, meaning that it can do up to 360 damage if your opponent gets too careless. Two Energy attachments can be demanding at times, but Dark Patch and Double Turbo Energy are both solid options to keep this attack firing.

You’ll find these and many more cards when the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Shrouded Fable expansion releases on August 2, 2024.
