Product Description

The Kryptonite New York Lock Fahgettaboudit Mini U-Lock features a 18 mm hardened max performance steel shackle with a double deadbolt anti-rotation design that resists bolt cutters and twisting leverage attacks. There is also a steel sleeve over the cross bar for double security. The lock’s disc-style cylinder with center keyway is protected by a vinyl coating and is pick and drill resistant. The keyway also features a sliding dust cover to protect the cylinder from dirt and debris when not in use. It includes three stainless steel keys with an ergonomic design to reduce torque and keep them from bending or breaking. One of the keys has an LED key fob for added visibility in the dark. Rated at 10 / 10 on our security scale, the New York Lock Fahgettaboudit Mini is good for quick stops in major metropolitan areas and all day & overnight on college campuses, suburbs, and rural areas.     This lock is great at keeping honest people honest, amateur thieves from stealing your bike, but will not deter those with an angle grinder. This is great for someone riding ebikes (as the lock is like 5lbs), locking their bike to pop into stores or eating somewhere, and not planning on locking their bike up overnight.

    The lock feels super durable and the three included keys are nice as well.

    This lock is a huge step up from my old random chain lock I had. The lock has 3 keys total making it very nice in case you lose any and the product feels super secure. I trust this lock to protect my electric scooter for when I take it to school. The lock has some weight to it but nothing that would be considered crazy. I’ve been using it for around 2 months and have zero complaints. The price was a little steep but after using this lock it feels entirely justified and worth spending the money to protect my electric scooter.

    I had my motor scooter stolen last year. The thief cut the u lock I had on it. So after looking at many reviews I decided to go with this one and a 16mm chain so now the weak point in the slightly "smaller" chain lol. This u lock is massive and very heavy so keep that in mind. But it does fit under my seat with plenty of room for gear. After owning the lock for over a year and having it out in the rain and extreme hot/cold it still functions as if it was new. I do put a drop of 3 in 1 lube in the key hole every few months but its has never given me trouble like other disk detainer mechanisms I've had in the past. This lock also has the updated core that has more disks and they tension off a disk father in, instead of the first disk making it harder to pick. But honestly nobody is going to be picking it.

    This lock is thick and heavy. My rating for 4 stars is simply because I wish it was a tad bit longer. I wanted to use this to lock my ebike wheel to the frame. It probably would lock to the bike and post.

    The aventon ebike frame is thick and with the fender in the way, to lock the wheel to the bike, I could only lock the back wheel to the “forks” holding the wheel. It’s thin metal so obviously I would’ve preferred that the wheel lock reached the thicker park of the frame. I am still scared to leave my bike unattended.

    It is much thicker than my old one.

    I have an e-bike and so absolutely need a foolproof lock to go with it. This has all the safety features you can think of. It is extremely heavy though, for you race-bikers out there. When a piece broke off (the sliding cover), they offered to send new one for free. Keys also protected.

    My son's Gary Fisher 29er was stolen during his freshman year in college. I was foolish enough to think a coated cable lock was sufficient. After all, he is going to a top notch college in a very nice neighborhood with very low crime. His bike lasted 3 months... So, when we bought him a new bike (albeit cheaper than the first one!), we decided to up our game. The reviews for this lock were all exceptional, so I picked it. The campus police officer who saw it said it was probably overkill; overkill is what I wanted!

    It weighs 4-5 lbs, so be prepared for that. Buy a bike mount - there are several. We chose the one that mounts to the handlebar, there are others that mount to the frame In our case, the lock would not physically fit in the triangle of the frame without removing the water bottle holder and other mods. The handlebar mount works fine, but be sure to put it near the center so it doesn't throw the bike off balance.

    NOBODY will try to cut this lock. Given a few hours with a hacksaw or perhaps a plasma torch, they could cut through. But it's a bike, not a Tiffany diamond, so once they see this thing, they will walk away and find another, far easier, target of opportunity. Lastly, buy a cable lock or two so you can protect the tires.

    Das Schloss ist sehr robust und macht einen extrem sicheren Eindruck. (Auch Testberichte die ich gefunden habe waren sehr positiv und überzeugend). Es ist einfach zu öffnen und zu schliessen und auch der Schlüssel macht einen hochwertigen Eindruck. Inzwischen benutze ich das Schloss seit fast 5 Jahren und es ist die ganze Zeit im Freien an einem Unterstellplatz. Einziges Manko ist, dass der Bügel einen recht kleinen Innendurchmesser hat. D.h. man braucht einen Radständer oder eine Anschlussmöglichkeit die nah am Rahmen ist und selbst einen nicht zu dicken Durchmesser hat. Eine Laterne geht bspw. gar nicht. Das ist eine grosse Einschränkung die das Schloss für manche ggf. weniger tauglich macht. Wer grössere Durchmesser sucht und mehr Flexibilität braucht ist vielleicht mit einem Kettenschloss besser bedient. Ein gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis hat beispielsweise das Kryptonite Keeper https://amzn.to/3W5sv2G, dass ebenfalls sehr robust und zudem deutlich preiswerter ist (Ich habe dies für ein anderes Rad). Wer es noch sicherer braucht, kann das Abus City Chain Kettenschloss (https://amzn.to/4eKCm5h) anschauen, aber das ist abartig schwer und meines Erachtens nichts für unterwegs.

    I needed a lock for my trike which was above normal strength. This thing is, according to an ex bike thief, almost impossible to remove in the short time needed with a power tool. A diamond cutter seems needed, or hi torque jaws of life. Nothing is unbreakable to a determined thief, but these are often ignored for an easier target. I'll let you know if anyone steals my trike and the police follow them on a GPS tracker.
