Six years later…still going strong.
I believe this fan is the best purchase for the money in my life. I have run this fan almost eve single night for a white out noise for over six years. Zero problems. I have to pull out a screw driver and clean the dust and dirt out a few times a year but other than that, it’s damn near perfect. I cannot believe how well the motor has kept up as much as I run this thing. One day down the road it’s going to die and that will be sad…because this thing is about as trustworthy and reliable as it gets and we have been through some timed. Ten out of ten I cannot recommend this fan enough.

This model (660), compared to the 733:
* 4 speeds vs 3 speeds
* Push-buttons (on the top of the back) instead of a dial (in the middle of the back)
* Infinite adjustable (slides along a metal support bracket allowing pick-an-angle)
* Slightly smaller across the head of the fan, and much less "deep" (the back of the stand is eliminated), so it's much more compact.
* Slightly quieter
* Lower power consumption at "low", similar at "medium"
* Shinier
* Power cord is 2-3 feet shorter.
Negatives:
* The power cord is too short for all the places I've used Vornados before, I had to use a power strip as an extension cord.
* There is an audible beep from each button press, I don't like devices that make noise for no reason.
* Power-on goes to the highest fan setting (rather than last setting). Ideal would be if the speed buttons also acted as power-on buttons.
* The lower settings don't move all that much air.
Unfortunately Vornado, like other fan manufacturers, doesn't generally provide CFM (air flow) and dBa (noise) ratings on its fans, even though these are likely the two most important metrics to fan-buying consumers. I don't have a way to measure those, but I did compare power usage. Note this is versus a 733 that has been running non-stop for 4+ years (so its motor may be less efficient or dirtier than ideal):
660 (1) vs 733 at low: 30W vs 42W
Setting 1 is notably quieter (and less air flow) than low on the Vornado 733. If you use this setting, and the fan runs non-stop all year, you'd save 105kwh with the newer fan, about $11 at my average energy pricing (approx). But this setting moves too little air for my purposes.
660 (2) at med-low: 37W
Setting 2 has some audible noise and moderate airflow. If you used this setting instead of "medium" on the Vornado 733, and the fan runs non-stop all year, you'd save 70kwh with the newer fan, about $7 at my average energy pricing. This setting moves enough air to be useful (but not enough to circulate my open foyer/staircase).
660 (3) vs 733 at medium: 46W vs 45W
Setting 3 has noteworthy audible noise and moderate-high airflow, very similar to the "medium" on the older fan. At this setting they essentially have the same power draw.
I didn't test "high" since it's too loud for me to ever use. Neither fan showed any "vampire draw": the power meter indicated "0" meaning less than 1W of draw while powered off.
If you need substantial air flow (as in between two rooms or in an open foyer, at "medium") and are not space constrained, the [[ASIN:B000MI3HJQ Vornado 733]] will suit you just fine, at currently 20% cheaper than this model.
But the 660 is smaller, sleeker, more adjustable, and offers the option of a lower-powered, quieter mode. All things being equal that makes it the superior choice, and it is Recommended.

Vornado's sleek new 660 model is their smallest "whole room" unit I've used. It's comparable to their Vornado 733 (which I've used for years). Besides the smaller size and sleek design, it adds "infinite" angle adjustment, push-button power/speed settings, and a much shorter cord.
