Nice shirt with a good trim fit. Many button downs are way too baggy but this one fits nicely with room to move around. 6' 3" 190lb guy and wearing a large fits well. It doesn't have that synthetic/plastic feel like some shirts I have tried.

A good shirt for outdoor activities with a lite feel to it making it nice for warm weather when you don't want to get too much sun or are trying to avoid bugs!

Bought this for a hike up Half Dome. Knew that the temp would vary wildly throughout the day so I wanted something long sleeved but highly breathable. This shirt was awesome! Performed exactly as I had hoped and is now my warm weather go to hiking shirt. Lots of great/useful features and very soft and comfortable as well.

Summary: I am a little disappointed with the evolution of this line. It's a good shirt, but the styling is more stylistic and the venting seems a step back in quality. The material seems resilient, and that's why I purchase this line (at least in the past).

Full review: I originally bought two Mountain Hardwear Canyon shirts and two Columbia PFG Tamiami™ II shirts for traveling to the Philippines on charity work. I needed to work in hot, rainy environments, yet still be presentable while speaking to government, church, and local leaders while on the job. A huge benefit for me was that these shirts do not show sweat stains, they breathe fairly well, and most of my stays were without AC in 95F, 99% humidity climates. The MH Canyon Shirts were a little more 'sporty' looking than the Columbia PFG's, but the material was thicker and seemed to be more resilient, so I wore them more often when working outdoors.

Over the years, my older Canyon shirts have accumulated paint stains that I can't wash out, so I thought I'd buy some new ones. The older models had mesh underneath the armpits. At one point in the Canyon shirt's evolution you couldn't even notice the mesh vents were there, aiding in not wanting to look like I'm wearing a camping shirt around town. Here's the problem, the little changes they have made to this new line make it look like an ultra casual, camping shirt. Nice looking, but still like a camping shirt.

Although the material is still thicker than the PFG shirts, the bright stitching thread is an attempt at style that turns into "this shirt is so casual it doesn't matter how it looks" type of style. It's a shame, since the material has a nicer appearance than the older ones. Additionally, the arm vents are no longer mesh, but basically a big hole that is sewn in 4 spots (forming three little holes). I worry that this area is more of a weak spot than it was before. Lastly, the colors are now 100% camping/fishing shirt colors. Instead of the nice midnight blue color, its now an ultra-dark, aqua color. I don't know if I will keep following this line after the last iteration.

If you don't need slightly heavier material and you prefer a more traditional, toned-down look, I much prefer the Columbia PFG Tamiami™ II long sleeve shirts to these (White and Navy). The Columbia Silver Ridge Lite line is nice too. However, both of those shirts use lighter material than the MH Canyon shirt which might be less resilient if you are working/active around cement, bricks, rocks, heavy tools/equipment, etc. In the meantime, I decided to keep using my old Canyon shirts with the paint stains on them instead of replacing them all. One of these new Canyon shirts is enough.

I'm 6'1", weigh 280 lbs., and had a terrible time finding comfortable hiking gear until now. This shirt is both comfortable and breathes well. The sizing runs a "tad" tight in the gut (my problem, not Mountain Hardwear's), so if you have a larger gut you might want to go 3XL instead of 2XL. Also, the shirt is designed to convert to short sleeves by rolling up the sleeve and buttoning it to the shirt. Unfortunately, my arms were too big (muscles got in the way, of course lol); however, you are still able to roll up the shirt and still be comfortable. I don't plan to wear this shirt in the hot summertime anyway, so this is really a non-issue.

Overall, this is a fantastic product for bigger people to get into hiking and feel comfortable.

these have become my go to shirts. I have two of them already. They are a little on the light/fragile side compared to my normal nyco blends, but they breath well, wick well, and keep me cool in the sun. If they cam down just a little in price these would be the only shirts in my closet. The inner zip pockets on the chest have come in really handy. They have really shined in wet environments where other shirts wouldnt dry... no problem with these. As a side these are not cactus proof. In fact I'm pretty sure they helped the cactus get me by keeping the tiny needles in my shoulder enough that they could stay until they really got their barbs into my shoulder and arm and hand then i went to hit what i thought was a bug on me. This shirt is very similar in color to alpha green in the PCU line of clothing made by various companies.

The shirt was received very timely and I love it. I have 7 of these shirts in large size and they fit and look wonderful. The zippered pocket is a perfect fit for my iPhone. I use the shirt as a sun shirt as well as a dress shirt. It is great for travel as it washes and dries well without wrinkles. I highly recommend this shirt.
