The ProsourceFit Acupressure Mat and Neck Pillow Set is an effective and affordable home remedy for muscle discomfort, stress, insomnia, and more. The foam bed and thickness of the neck pillow have plastic needles covering thousands of acupressure points. Choose the regular acupressure mat with 8,910 acupressure points or the longer acupressure mat with 11,178 acupressure points. Admittedly, I’ve only used this twice, so this is for immediate effectiveness and not overall durability.Pardon for the intro of issues, but I find reviews most helpful when I find one from somebody who shares my same bodily problems. I am one of those folks who comes with a lot of autoimmune issues, and related conditions like hypermobility. Hypermobility comes with ailments like unstable sacroiliac joints and migraines related to an unstable cervical spine and pain radiating from the occipital, potentially occipital neuralgia. This is my own experience with the accupressure mat.Something akin to occipital neuralgia has been grinding at the base of my skull for weeks, much longer than usual. I tried many things, and while my doc gave me other items to try, they provide only some relief for a time. The pain has been spreading over the past few weeks to my back and shoulders. I’ve been more and more tense which continues the cycle. A professional massage would probably alleviate a lot of the issues, but that sounded like an expensive hassle with a long wait time. I decided to give myself permission to pull the trigger on one of these. I had been using a heating pad, several oral medications, a theracane, a traction device, and cervical spine stability exercises leading up to this decision.I laid down with my shirt on, on my couch and don’t feel much. I switched to my floor and felt more, but my shirt was thick so o felt less than I imagined. With direct contact I felt the initial discomfort of pokes followed by somewhat intense heat on the surface of my now stretched skin. After a minute or two I didn’t really feel anything unless I fidgeted. So, I stayed. I stayed probably longer than what was recommended but I could tell that it was working. I actually leaned into some parts of my back and shoulders because they hadn’t been getting as much pressure as other parts. When I started to roll on my side to get up, that was certainly a shock, but it was very short lived.Now my back is like jelly in the best way possible. I don’t feel much neck pain if any at all. And as an unexpected benefit, my SI joint that often moves around when I do some of these hard floor movements is very well aligned. I’m feeling very little stress and very little tension around my face and jaw, despite keeping them away from the mat. My fiancé says that my back looks terrible. (It’s not bleeding or anything).I’ll be on again tomorrow, but maybe for not as long.

At least 4 of my friends who have tried mine ending up buying one. Even people who think it looks terrifying have found it remarkably soothing. One thing: About a year into my relationship with Spikeo I bought another one to live at my parent’s house for when I have longer visits over the holidays. The new one was SO sharp — turns out that with daily use, the spikes get slightly dull over time. Eventually I felt like my original wasn’t packing the same punch, so bought a new one for myself about 18 months after the original purchase. My new one is gray, which is actually quite pretty and a little less garish. I would advise everyone to get new spikes every couple years or so if you want that signature OUCH with your pain relief.

Most things haven't really helped, including physical therapy -- the only thing that would provide relief was Tylenol and scalding hot showers. This mat appears to be invented by a sadist and it definitely HURTS, but with regular use my pain has become much, much better. It also helps relieve pain when it happens, but I've found it to be more useful in reducing pain generally rather than addressing a particular pain spot.

My best evidence of its effectiveness is that I get extremely thirsty after massages and the same thing happens when I lie on the mat for 20-40 minutes. I don't know what the thirst means (a quick Google says something about the lymphatic system?) but I take it as a sign that this mat actually does something for my knotted-up muscles.

I love the mat so much that I made the following meme. I hope it helps in your decision on whether to purchase this.

The worst part of this product is finding a way to get off it without moving sideways over the spikes - that can actually hurt you.

Overall, I personally did not experience the immense pain relief that others did but I will say that using the matt for my back/shoulder pain did help my muscles feel less stiff. I cannot say with certainty that this matt was what helped me, but after using it with my hands/palms, I started to regain feeling in some fingers that had over time had some feeling reduced due to a separate medical condition. I experienced the "warm" sensation mostly when using for my hands/legs/arms but not really noticeable for me with my back.

I will note that I think the headrest is poorly designed and targets the back of your head more so than neck/shoulder which is why im giving the product 4 instead of 5 stars. Overall though, at this price point it's a pretty solid product that has at least given me some tangible relief and is worth a shot. Just be careful in the positions you choose to use it in. I find the best position for me for back/upperback/neck/shoulder pain is to lay the matt over a pillow in bed so the bottom of it is about halfway up your back and the top of the matt sits around your neck area. This seems to allow the spikes to better target that region naturally more so than the included pillow.

For a couple days due to my herniated bulging disc (in my L4,L5 and S1) it took me almost an hour just to stand up in the morning. Standing up straight after that and taking a step was even more excruciating. I was worried I was going to have to get my nerve burning done again. But it was around the holiday season and I knew I wouldn't be able to get in anytime soon. So being able to not function I decided to look for remedies on here. I ran across this magical mat... And seeing so many people with the same problems I was having I was at a point I didn't care I figured it can't hurt to try! Especially because I could barely sleep because I couldn't get comfortable, walking and moving was excruciating. I was in so much pain I was just crying I couldn't take it anymore.
When the mat showed up I couldn't wait to try it!
I will say I was in quite a shock trying it out the first time... The pain was tolerable but it was definitely there for the first minute but I toughened through it because I figured it's better than dealing with pain all day long! After breathing and relaxing and not moving so that my body was settled. I started getting this really warm feeling all over my back. Felt amazing! It was uncomfortable to lay on but not unbearable. About 10 minutes in I honestly started to doze off! I hadn't been able to rest in days and somehow this created such a release that I fell asleep for the next 30 minutes feeling no pain(I made sure to set a timer for 45 minutes prior to laying down on the match so I didn't go over the suggested time).
Getting off the first time without putting more pressure on one area was not very easy but the more I used it the easier it got and I figured out a method. I found that laying down where my back is pretty much on the mat at the same time instead of focused on one area I do a crab walk on my elbows till I'm above the mat and then slowly lower my body.
The next morning though I couldn't believe it it took me maybe a minute to get out of bed it was like I was a brand new person! I really honestly did not think it was going to do that much to turn it around because nothing in the past has ever helped!
I'm so glad for all the great reviews people left and I will say that I recommend this mat to anyone and everyone I can because it is a total game changer I use it everyday and have not had pain since that day! And especially for the price you can't go wrong!
I used it on the floor and usually put a towel underneath my head since I'm not so fond of the neck piece I usually put that underneath my feet which feels wonderful! And I will definitely say that you're not going to get the full effects unless you lay on the mat bare-skinned.
If you have back pain or knots.. or just need a good way to de-stress...this is it!!!

The first minute of lying on the mat is a bit uncomfortable (lots of spikes!), but soon after the pain just disappears through your whole back and/or neck. It has been amazing to use, just need to try not to fall asleep on it. Truly worth giving it a shot if you have back/neck pain, at this price you have nothing to lose other than the pain.
