I ordered the Razer Kiyo X as a replacement to my Microsoft Lifecam Studio I've been using since February 2020. The Lifecam developed a short in the cable in November 2023 so I did a little research and came across the Razer via a Wired Magazine article. I was impressed with the specs and the price of $49 (when I purchased) and decided to order it.
I was disappointed when I first plugged it in because it had rolling artifacts across the video. I went to the Razer website to contact Razer Support and it guided me to a list of suggestions. It recommended not plugging it into a hub or peripheral so I plugged it directly into the PC and the issue was resolved.
The Great:
The color and white balance are fantastic. For the last year, while using the Lifecam in my new office, the accent wall behind me really messed with the brightness levels in videos to the point where I always seemed to look like Casper the friendly ghost. I was able to overcome the issue by changing the angle of the camera to have less dark blue accent wall behind me but it was nevertheless frustrating. Upon plugging in the Razer Kiyo X, the issues are resolved and the video image is perfectly balanced even with the window open in front of me directly behind my computer and webcam.
The Sad (not necessarily related to Razer):
Due to firewalls related to enterprise software restrictions, I'm unable to access any of the Razer software to adjust the settings. So whatever the default quality Razer sets for Zoom is what I'm stuck with. I'm not convinced that's 1080p but I'm hopeful. It seems comparable to what the Lifecam offered.
Overall, it's a fantastic camera and I'm very happy with my purchase.

I don't know much about webcams and streaming but i'm mainly a zoom and teams user and that's where i have to be on camera. It is a simple work related environment and i think this does the job excellently. I don't need all the special bell and whistles to do my job but i do like an aethetics to feel good about what i have. And, this no different. Razer has really nice looking tech and this mid tier webcam is amazing. 1080p at 30fps is good enough to talk to my boss and team members. I don't need them to see my blemishes nor point out food on my shirt or whatever. Tho, this camera has really good picture quality in my opinion. i think the 60fps would be nice but at the 1080p. Is it worth the extra $20 when the pro is on sale? not in my use case... i can get away like a bandit with this camera setup and still have $20 for the arm or base for it, which i used. So value wise, i have spent $100 on a camera and mount that will take my work calls to the next level. No more Laptop cameras and noisy pictures.
And, like i said the aesthetics of things are really important to me but not sacrificing the quality. I think Razer did a great job with this webcam and i'm happy i was able to pick this up.
the Setup was excellent and with Windows10 you can change some of the minor settings through there without needing the Razer app. I think if you need to fine tune then you can take advantage of that, but i'm happy with the default setting right out from the box.
