    Great monitor

    Great monitor
This was the perfect product for our family. We have multiple children in different rooms and we love being able to watch all kids on one screen. It’s very easy to view and stays charged for a good amount of time. We love the night light feature and our kids enjoy picking out a color before bedtime. One feature I love about the monitor is that the screen on the monitor will go off when I want it to, but as soon as it detects noise on one of the cameras the monitor lights up on its own for me to see. Saves me the trouble of finding the button at night to turn the screen back on when I hear one of the kiddos in the middle of the night. It’s also very easy to install and we love that we can take it with us and hook it up anywhere. We take it to grandparents houses, vacations, etc. The ease of it for travel is so great. The only thing I would change is the brightness on the main monitor that detects sound. My husband and I like to keep it dark in our room, so the green light that detects sound we usually cover to limit the light.Over all it’s a great monitor, well worth the purchase.

We had an Infant Optics monitor for 6 years after purchasing it for my first-born and using it until my youngest turned 2. It finally bit the dust after years of battery issues (we basically always had to have it plugged in, even after replacing the battery more than once). It was going to cost $100 to replace just the monitor, so I decided to just go ahead and get a whole new system. Have had the Baby Sense one for a few months now and I’ve been very happy with it. I can only compare it to Infant Optics since that’s the only other one we’ve used, but it outdoes it in just about every way: picture quality, screen size, battery life. The Infant Optics was so grainy and laggy compared to this one. I love the side-by-side view of the dual cameras so I can see both kids at once. I remember reading some reviews saying that you could only have sound coming from one camera, so I was worried about that. But turns out, that’s not the case. You can turn on scan mode and the sound will flip back and forth from each camera. I also love the VOX mode. There are only a couple of minor things that I would change. The little stand on the back that makes the monitor stand up is a solid piece of plastic. The infant optics one was more like a frame so that when I was moving it and carrying other things, I could hook my pinky through it and carry it easily. This one is harder to carry, especially when I’m carrying other things from room to room (which I usually am). Also wish it showed a volume bar when you turn the volume up or down so you could tell what level you’re setting it to. But other than that I really do love the system and wish we had switched sooner!

I'm so happy with this purchase! I needed a new monitor because the one I had been using quit connecting to wifi, and the parent unit did not hold a charge overnight. This Babysense monitor is absolutely perfect for me as having a wifi monitor was never important to me. In fact, this is a perfect example of 'less is more'. I didn't realize how much my other monitor was lacking, despite it being marketed as having so many great features. The picture quality on this Babysense monitor, as well as the audio, is excellent. I love that I can position the view and angle of the camera. I can't speak on the battery life yet since I've only had it for a day, but I'm hopeful. I'm also very excited to have a camera in both the nursery and playroom, and I'm pleased to know that I can add a third or fourth camera as our family grows. I made this purchase based on an article I found on Babylist, detailing the best monitors of 2024. This one ranked #1 for the best split-screen monitor. Can't forget to mention that set-up was a breeze. There is no pairing required for the parent and baby units. They come already paired (however it does come with a pair feature in the event they ever become disconnected for any reason). I'm giving it 4 stars only because I would like to be able to turn the volume and brightness on the parent unit down lower than the lowest setting, but this is of less importance to me than the other features. Similarly, I would like to be able to turn the night light on the baby unit(s) down a bit lower, and the lullabies seem to be a bit "tinny" sounding, but they still help my daughter fall asleep. For the price I think this unit is a great value and I would recommend it to anyone.

This is everything we were looking for in a baby monitor, and trust me we looked for HOURS to find something even remotely acceptable. This exceeded our expectations: the screen and camera sensitivity are beautiful, the screen is bright but unlike most baby monitors it wasn't blinding. We still put a bit of orange plastic filter over the screen to block blue light at night, and that helped a lot. We use white noise and this baby monitor seems to cancel that reasonably well so that we can still hear the baby. The buttons on the remote control light up, which is a huge plus, and the battery life is great. Overall, we wish we had spent the money on this in the first place rather than buying a cheaper one that was nowhere as good. The fact that this uses an encrypted local signal and no app is a big plus because we did not want another app. We'd buy this again and really wish we had bought it sooner than cheaper stuff. It's the perfect mix between high quality features without being excessive.

I'm amazed at how much technology and quality is built into the Babysense MaxView 5.5" monitor. The images and sound are clear, and you can adjust many settings to suit your preferences. It's loaded with features that you'd never expect in a baby monitor. Even the packaging is first-rate -- rivaling that of Apple.

We bought the one-camera set and it's all we need. If we ever do want to add a second camera, however, it's easy to do. And the monitor can show a split screen, so you can monitor both cameras at the same time.

Another family member has a different brand of baby monitor that requires an internet connection and an app. The Babysense MaxView requires neither. The camera's image is transmitted to the monitor over the air. And its reach is claimed to be 1,000 feet!

Oh, and if you're wondering what a "PTZ camera" is, it means the camera has pan-tilt-zoom capabilities, all controlled remotely from the monitor.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid basics, premium features poorly executed
Reviewed in Canada on February 24, 2023
I am keeping this baby monitor because it is ok, and I don't have the energy to test a bunch of different brands/models. I wanted a video monitor that wasn't connected to Wifi or my phone. This was recommended to me by a friend who was dissatisfied with other monitors she had tried. I was previously using a Wyze Pan Cam. For the price, I expected this monitor to be far superior in every way. Sadly, it is not. It covers the basics but falls short on all of its advertised premium features. See below.
    Pros:
    - Nice packaging
    - Easy set up
    - Monitor has a large screen with a menu that is easy to navigate.
    - Good sound detection on camera and loud speaker on monitor.
    Cons:
    - Compared with the Wyze camera, the overall picture resolution and night vision are inferior. The zoom function is not very useful as it is grainy with little contrast. I cannot see my baby's chest rise and fall.
    - Temperature gauge is not accurate when camera is wall-mounted. It is 2-3 degrees C higher than the crib temperature.
    - Clock gains time (about 15 minutes per week) and has to be reset regularly.
    - White noise feature is not loud enough with poor sound quality, tinny and scratchy. Still using a dedicated white noise machine.
    - Battery does not last the whole day, even when only checking the screen for a few seconds here and there. It also takes about 8 hours to fully charge. I have to plug it in overnight. The cable has a box on it (not sure the function of this) which is heavy and awkward.

I cannot speak to the following features as I have not used them.
    - microphone
    - split-screen (I only have one camera.)
    - long range (I live in a small apartment.)
    - customer service (It has been working perfectly for over a month.)

Although I admittedly have not done the research, there must be less expensive monitors on the market that have basic functions with comparable quality. This monitor sadly does not meet my expectations for my purposes. Perhaps, if you have different needs, it will be just the ticket for you and your family.
