Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
It seems like they fixed the range and adoption issues with the latest firmware and it's not working as expected, and I'm pretty happy about it. It's about 70' from my UDR, has a great signal and my devices have no problem connecting to it. 5 more starts for Ubiquiti!
Initial setup was typical of Unifi, very easy and went straight in to the console. After less than a month it un-adopted itself and will not re-adopt despite factory resets, rebooting the console, etc. I should have listened to the reviews.
As other reviews mentioned it also runs VERY hot. I am not going to replace it because it does seem like it could be a fire hazard.
My office just upgraded from a synology router/wifi to the Ubiquti unifi router/wifi. Unfortunately the Wifi does not have the same distance or strength as the Synology. Ordered an additional extender to add back the distance lost, but the extender did not work - defective device.
I have a new WiFi unifi camera on a gate post and was trying to improve access. I have an AP AC Lite and LR in the house and it will connect, but loses the connection or pixelates.
The distance is a measured 325 feet.
I put this device on the outside porch with a line of sight connection. It did setup without a problem. It connected to the AP in the house.
The gate camera preferred to use the inside AP over the extender. When I forced it to use the extender in the unifi App, there was a loss of signal. Using the AP in the house, the signal was about -82DB. Using the extender that was outside and line of sight, the signal was -86DB.
So, I am returning the product.
I did go and purchase the AC Pro Mesh. That is a direct POE connection to the server. It is doing the job. FYI, the connection is only -79DB, but that is enough to get a constant clean and stable connection.
I ordered two. Both are unable to be acquired on the network app. The step 2 picture makes absolutely no damn sense. ( instructions are very basic pictures only???)
Also they get VERY hot. I have sold and installed many of Ubiquities devices over the last ten years but I will not be selling these because I believe they may be a fire hazard.
