If you're a newbie like me in the world of networking, the Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Router is nothing short of a game-changer. From its sleek design to its unparalleled performance, this router has transformed my home network setup into a seamlessly connected oasis.

    Setup:
The moment I unboxed the UniFi Dream Router, I was struck by its modern and minimalistic design. Setting it up was a breeze, even for someone who had never delved into networking before. The included step-by-step guide made the process intuitive, and the UniFi app acted as a guiding hand throughout. Within minutes, I had my entire network up and running, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment.

    Coverage and Speed:
One of the most astonishing features of the UniFi Dream Router is its exceptional coverage and lightning-fast speed. My home used to have dead zones where Wi-Fi signals seemed to disappear, but those days are now a distant memory. Every corner of my house now enjoys robust connectivity, allowing me to effortlessly stream 4K content, play online games, and video conference without any hiccups.

    Intuitive Control:
What truly sets the UniFi Dream Router apart is its powerful yet user-friendly interface. The UniFi app provides an unparalleled level of control, allowing me to customize and monitor my network with ease. From setting up guest networks to prioritizing devices, everything is at my fingertips. The real-time insights into network traffic have not only satisfied my curiosity but also helped me optimize my usage patterns for better performance.

    Security:
For a networking newbie, security was a concern that loomed large. The UniFi Dream Router quickly put my worries to rest with its robust security features. The ability to create separate VLANs and implement firewall rules gave me the confidence that my devices and data were well-protected. With regular firmware updates, I know that my network is always equipped with the latest defenses against potential threats.

    Community and Support:
As a newbie, I was thrilled to discover the active and helpful Ubiquiti community. Countless forums, guides, and tutorials provided me with a wealth of knowledge, helping me tackle any challenges that arose. Additionally, the responsive customer support team swiftly addressed my queries and provided guidance whenever I needed it.

In conclusion, the Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Router has not only revolutionized my home network but also empowered me to take charge of my digital domain with confidence. Its seamless setup, comprehensive coverage, intuitive control, robust security, and vibrant community make it the ultimate choice for networking beginners and enthusiasts alike. If you're ready to embark on a networking journey, the UniFi Dream Router is the perfect companion that will guide you towards networking nirvana.

I am IT Systems Professional for over a decade of experience, and by far it has exceeded my expectations.
BEST DEVICE OUT THERE FOR REALIBLITY AND SECURITY, at home or for a business.

    Work:
I would recommend the Dream Machine Router for small companies such as a dentist office, restaurant or coffee shop. Do keep in mind depending on your location size, you may want to expand your Wi-Fi by adding AP's. For those that have internet speed exceeding 1gb, keep in mind that this device will knock that speed down by 10-25% due to all the security settings being turned on. I personally have 400mbs at home, so I am affected by this.

    Work 2:
I professionally run UniFi at my place at work and have right under 100 Unify devices. Network administration has never been so easy. The professional and consumer interface is about 90% identical.

I personally would not use Unifi within an enterprise environment. High level backend commands such as SSH can be tricky, manual and overly complex vs Cisco or Fortigate. This is really meant for small, med, big but not enterprise companies.

    Conclusion:
I personally own this device along with 2 switches and 2 APs, and it works flawlessly.

If you are techy I would recommend this for home use. You can setup rules, VLANS and take advantage of enterprise security settings.
If you are not a techy, you can set this up in 20mins tops from the app and leave it alone. Standard security will be applied.

Best bang for your buck is to setup all the advance security features and segregate your network by VLANS.

It's a unifi router, what can I say. You either love them or hate them. Personally I try to use their infrastructure when I can as the interface keeps things simple but you still have advanced features and controls when you need them. It also makes it easy to make changes remotely (using one for my parents home network as well for easy tech support.).
I got this one for scaling down my home lab for a new location. It replaced two rack mounted unifi devices and fit my needs perfectly. The one PoE port is great considering it only has the 4 ports that come standard on a router.
Of course I can't recommend you buy it scalped on amazon like I did but it's been sold out on their site for nearly a year.

1x UDR w/ 2 U6 Lites and an AC mesh for outdoors.

I've had no connectivity issues after switching to this new setup. Ubiquiti products have been plug and play so far. So much so that I would recommend the DIY route with compatible Ubiquiti products as a legitimate option for any small business. For home use I would recommend them as a no-brainer.

The only thing that would make this better is if there were 4x PoE RJ45 outputs instead of two. I understand the thinking behind it (hook up an adjacent computer and a dumb switch for any existing wired devices) but if you need more than two POE outputs you're going to have to settle for using extra outlets and using bulky PoE adapters.

In my efforts to find and build the components for a wireless system off our Starlink satellite between various buildings on a property, I finally choose to go with the UniFi Dream Router (UDR). As part of of this setup, we also purchased three (3) UniFi AC Mesh units to attached to the exterior of each building. Initial setup was hampered by the UDR not going through the initial setup properly and finally realized we had to reset it back to the factory setup by pushing the small tiny button the bottom of it. Went through the setup and worked as promised. Once that was done, we hardwired the AC Mesh unit from the UDR (100 ft. Cat6 cable) to the exterior of the shop and then simply put the Starlink router into bypass mode in order to run off the UDR. With just the Starlink router in place, the shop was at about 45-60 mbps (enough to do work) and AFTER the UDR was setup with the AC Mesh units, the speed in both the shop and surrounding area including the house (100 feet away) shot to an average of 230mbps to 300mgps. We didn't even need to setup the two remaining mesh units. UniFi mobile app is extremely slick and handles everything we need to adopt any other UniFo products to the router. Highly recommend this product!

I did this more for an experiment and learning how to navigate the interface...But there's hardly any learning to do! Everything is so easy to find and the topology view is just plain slick. With a Synology NAS, this becomes powerful, can access both from anywhere in the world, setup docker containers and then port forward what I need through the router, I can setup almost anything, limited only by my own skill or imagination.
