Nope - Nope - Nope! Disappointed - Angry - Frustrated
Not sure if I am more disappointed, frustrated or angry about this purchase. I'm disappointed that it doesn't work. I literally was just trying to send the signal 11 feet straight across a room. No walls, no obstructions - just wanted to be able to re-arrange the room, and I can't get the DirecTV box to the other side of the room. I'm frustrated, because it does send a beautiful picture across the room that is rock solid... for 2 minutes at a time! Every 2:04 (two minutes and 4 seconds - give or take a few seconds for me hitting the lap button on the stop watch) the picture freezes, pixelates and then goes black for a couple seconds. See video. Only a few seconds before it happens because I knew exactly when to start recording! I'm angry, because this was clearly a returned item that Amazon re-sold me. Guarantee you it was returned for this exact issue. Huge waste of my time to set it all up, and now have to re-pack it up and ship it back. Worse, I don't know if this is legitimately a defective unit (I see others had the same - maybe a bad batch) or if this really will not work.

I usually don't write reviews because I am basically lazy but with J-tech I felt compelled to write a small review because of how happy I have been with their products so far. I've dealt with J-Tech before and bought their wired cat-5 hdmi transmitter and its been working flawlessly for a couple of years now. I saw the wireless hdmi transmitter back then but it was more pricey than what you see now. However, I wanted this for my other tv box and could not use wired connection and the price was much better and took the chance. I set this up in less than 10 minutes and it pretty much plug and play. Works flawlessly and of course that was no surprise to me because everything I have bought from J-tech has always worked. I also bought the hdmi splitter to curve the signal back to my tv and it worked perfectly and not like that cheap Chinese crap splitters that never work at all from the box. Just buy J-tech, forget the Chinese crap, you won't be sorry. Back to the wireless hdmi transmitter, it has a beautiful perfect picture and the signal is being sent through the floor from the first floor to the second floor. Sound and picture is in perfect sync, no lag whatsoever. Keep in mind the ir transmitter works flawlessly also but you need to know that one ir eye is a receiver and the other is the transmitter and it is labelled on the wire indicating which is which. If you put the receiver ir in eye on the transmitter unit it WON'T WORK!! The transmitter ir out eye goes on the transmitter unit so as to receive signals from your receiver unit. It also works for the other ir signals such as your Dish Network remotes or other remotes. The build of the units are made of metal and NOT cheap at all, not plastic. Even the plug has a small washer type screw that screws in when you plug it in so as to secure. Only the best of equipment has that kind of plug with a secure washer screw so as not to fall off. Has great venting ports to allow heat to escape but to be honest it does not get hot at all, just a tad warm and that's it for both receiver and sender transmitter. Lights a bright but its not an issue, I'd rather see lights indicating connection or any issues than nothing at all. Love this device and am thinking of getting a secondary receiver unit to share my box in another room so I can watch tv at night without having to move the box around. I highly recommend this unit to anyone who wants to buy from a company that stands behind their product, buy any J-tech product actually. If there are any changes or problems I will be sure to update this evaluation.

I just received this device over the weekend, and I can already say that I love it.

I use this device to watch TV through my outdoor antenna. My antenna is located on the balcony outside the dining room. I have two TV sets, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. I can use the same antenna with the same connection on both TV sets. I used to have coax cables stapled on the walls all the way from my dining room through to the living room. They were unsightly and often fell off. It was ugly and I didn't like it. And in the bedroom I had a flat antenna which barely worked and I had to move it delicately for each channel I wanted to watch. And there were long coax cables again stapled on the walls going into the dining room which is the only indoor space where I could get a signal.

Now I have the Extender in the dining room. I ran a ribbon coax cable through the sliding glass balcony door in the dining room. I connected the antenna to a digital TV converter. And I used an HDMI cable to connect the converter to the Extender. I can now watch TV in my living room and also in my bedroom using the very same antenna. No more coax wires strung on the walls through out the apartment. And it works!

My digital TV converter box has a remote control device. I actually have two of them. I can use the remote control to do everything from changing channels on the converter box, to operating the menu function for settings, and even control the volume through the converter box.

It is like I have the TV connected directly to the converter box even though I am using an extender.

    CONS:
    1. Obviously I can't watch different channels at the same time on both TV sets. For my purposes this is fine. I would have no reason to do that.

    2. Signal loss. There is a definite difference between the reception straight from the antenna to the TV using a direct coax cable, and the reception going into the converter box then into the Extender and then being wifi signaled to the TV set. I do certainly lose signal. In my area there is a weak signal for one of my favorite channels. I can receive it direct, but it just will not come in with my set up. And the other stations work, but depending on environment, time of day, or just the whims and caprices of the signals, they sometimes pixilate. It is my understanding that the more connections you have in an antenna set-up, the more opportunites you have to lose some signal. Perhaps a different converter box would help. I don't know.

But in general, this does work, and it works well. I am very happy with the result.

    PROS:
    1. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I had a problem setting up my Extender so that the remote control would work. The instructions given with the device are very sparse and just cover the highlights. My remote controls just did not work. I phoned the manufacturer and was immediately connected to a very nice, friendly, helpful, and interested representative. He walked me through the set-up from start to end just to make sure I was doing things. It turned out that I had made a simple and easily corrected mistake. The Extender Transmitter has an IR dongle. I needed to move that dongle so that it was in line of sight of my digital converter box IR signal. With his help I now have a remote control of the converter box from either room.

I shopped carefully and picked out a product that promised everything I wanted to replace my old Actiontec units. It had long range and supported 2 receivers with HDMI feed through for the local display. IR remote. Great right?

The build is good with solid metal cases. It set up flawlessly and it worked right out of the box ... sort of. Anything, and I repeat anything with motion in the picture gets blurred and jitters. A rolling stock ticker on the financial channels is almost unreadable. I tried to watch a stock car race and the stands just became a swash of smear. I tried changing cables, I tried changing wi-fi channels, I tried the RGB color setting. I moved the units around. I rebooted them. Nothing helped.

This thing, in my opinion, has serious encode/decode problems with the video processing. It jitters noticeably even on modest moving pictures. My ancient Actiontec looks MUCH better. This unit does have the range as I did test that because my plan was to run a second receiver in an outbuilding but it was jittering on the bedroom TV about 25 feet away so I sure wasn't going to invest another $100 on a second receiver.

Maybe I got a bad one but somehow I doubt it. It worked very well except for the jitter. I did something I rarely do and that is I boxed it back up and returned it for a refund. I will jitterbug on down the road and look for something else as soon as my eyes adjust. The blue LEDs on these units were so bright that the highway patrol boys and girls would approve.

I love this. It has enabled me to send my satellite feed to another TV in the lower level. I like that I was able to pair the satellite remote, so that I can change channels on my second TV just like it was the original satellite receiver. I am using a ViewHD 2 Port 1x2 Powered HDMI Mini Splitter with it which is working well.

Initially I thought this product was great. Plug and play. But after a few days of using it, I noticed every time I turned my TV off/on, the audio would slip out of sync with the source PVR. I'd have to power off the PVR and the JTECH extenders each time. Then the IR blaster also started randomly not working. Also my single Panasonic TV remote used to control the TV and PVR but when using the JTECH, it's not possible. I need to use the TV remote to turn on the TV and control the volume, and then the PVR remote to change channels and access the guide. Pretty annoying experience long term. But picture quality is excellent.

The unit was shipped out of Ontario California. Unit arrived quickly to my address in Canada which was great.
I previously had another brand of a wireless transmitter/receiver which failed, so I decided to try the J-Tech unit. Setup was easy following the instructions. Connection between transmitter and receiver was seamless. Connection between units has never dropped over the last couple of weeks since rec'd. The only issue I have noticed in comparison to the previous brand I owned is that if watching an action picture, the TV picture will pizelate or become jerky and distorted momentarily. Example was the FIFA soccer game from Qatar. If the TV picture is in a slow motion or near still mode, no issue. I contacted support thinking that there might be a firmware upgrade, but since this model is current, no luck. Unit is acceptable, but could be better as I had experience with another brand in the same setting.

Cont'd a year later. Still experiencing pixellation on TV picture transmitting through main unit. With turning on the TV, the main unit causes the TV to pulsate on and off. Solution is to disconnect and reconnect power going to the main unit. Also found the sound would be affected the same way. Manufacturing support is nil. Contacted company with no response. Definitely was a mistake to purchase at the premium cost I had to pay.
