A more affordable counterpart to Pelikan's flagship Souveran line of gold-nibbed fountain pens, this Classic M205 features the same great classic design, exceptional build quality, and high-capacity piston filling system as the Souveran M400 with a smooth and juicy steel nib. Like the M400, the M205 is slim and lightweight—perfect for those with smaller hands but equally comfortable for those with larger hands when the cap is posted on the back of the pen.

This pen features a stunning blue marble finish that glimmers with an enthralling pearlescent sheen. A transparent black window near the grip section lets you see how much ink is in the pen. Complementing the barrel design are a black cap and grip section, silver-colored trim, and a stainless steel nib engraved with the Pelikan logo.

I love this pen. If you...

I love this pen. If you have really large hands, it may not be for you; it's comfortable for me, but it is much lighter than I expected, and the section is also a little thinner than I expected. It puts down a nice, wet line that is as fine as expected on Rhodia (but on cheap copy paper, it spreads and bleeds, as you would expect of such a wet pen).

I knocked off a star because it came out of the (beautiful, intricate) package with misaligned tines, and was as a result, very scratchy. I have a loupe and was able to fix the issue pretty easily, but I don't think I should have had to with a pen at this level.

Love the pen. The pen...

Love the pen. The pen is beautiful. A friend, who is also a fan of good pens, tried it for a few minutes. A day later she texted to tell me she had ordered one. The nib is very smooth. The pen is a bit smaller than I would like; I have several TWSBI ECO pens and have become accustomed to their size. The grip diameter is less than I am used to but still very comfortable. With the TWSBI ECOs I usually do not post the cap for balance reasons. With the M205 I find the balance is more comfortable to me when posted.
