I ordered these in the end of December, for use in the spring and summer. Unfortunately for me, I did not notice that sunscreens I was sent expired only 3 months later, in April 2024. Very poor customer service to send a product so near its end of life. Unsurprisingly, product smells bad, has separated, and is clearly expired. Return window ended by the time I noticed, so all I can do is write this review and hopefully save others the disappointment.

***Review update: Seller was very good about refunding once alerted about the expiration issue. The one tin that was not expired worked well. Goes on smooth and the tin is surprisingly convenient. Only issue, which I can live with, is that the product is a bit sticky on skin (does not fully absorb). I love that the product is plastic-free.

First I want to note: SPF 30 has basically the same effectiveness as SPF 50.

Now, I’ve always been skeptical of sunscreen, opting to forgo it completely instead of putting chemicals on my body and my children’s bodies. After researching, I decided to get this sunscreen, which is free of those cancer-causing chemicals, non-nano, and safe for the ocean.
The tin it comes in seems small, but it goes really far. It was used daily by two people for a week on vacation in Florida and we barely scratched the surface of it. My son used it on all exposed skin (legs, arms, face and neck) and never got a sunburn at all. I used it on my shoulders and my face and didn’t burn, and it didn’t clog my pores. However, I DID burn everywhere I didn’t use the sunscreen, so I used it consistently afterward and was just fine. My other son was on a cruise with his grandparents in the Caribbean, using the same sunscreen and didn’t burn at all. After the consistent usage, there should still be enough the last the majority of the summer.
Im highly impressed with this sunscreen and will buy more.

This sunscreen is easy to apply and has a nice, refreshing scent. The tin can be easily screwed off and offers ample room for application. It's also been tested by the EWG. However, it doesn't meet the mark for me as a Black woman because it leaves a noticeable white cast. For reference, my skin tone is similar to actress Nia Long. My search continues.

 I've been on the hunt for a zinc oxide sunscreen that didn't have strange or toxic chemicals in the formulation and this is the best one I've found. I LOVE the simple, real ingredient list. I also love that it comes in a metal tub so I don't have to worry about it absorbing any plastic.

As for performance, this is a 10/10. It's solid in the tub, but comes out really easy with no body heat or excessive rubbing required. It also spreads onto the skin smoothly. In addition to offering effective sun protection, it also provides moisture and a nice sheen to the skin without feeling heavy or sticky. I have fair skin, but it absorbs so easily that I suspect it would work well for a range of skin tones without being too ashy. It also works great under makeup. The sunscreen a slight smell at first, but it fades within minutes.

I highly, highly recommend this sunscreen!
