2 IMPORTANT TIPSI bought this upgrade after I accidentally shorted out my previous 6 QT and love the upgrades and definitely happy with the size.1st tip: If you ever get water in the base (under pan), unplug immediately, wait atleast 3 days (more preferrable) to let the electronics dry out, then try again (how I messed up my last one, didn't wait long enough)2nd tip: If it's burning everytime you cook, the stainless steel is not getting to the right temp needed to make it nonstick before putting your food in, I've started using saute function, getting it to temp, then putting my food in and switching to pressure cook, has eliminated my problems with the burnt food. Also, let stainless steel sit for a few hours with vinegar in it after cooking, will fully take out all old food particles.Hopefully that helps you cause I sure as heck didn't know when starting. Anyways, great product, you won't regret it. One thing missing I thought would be on the pro is the sanitize option but apparently you can do the same with the steam option.CORRECTED 6/14/24 - machine does have a sanitize option, it's in the preprogrammed settings, just did not have it's own dedicated button

I upgraded from Instapot Duo to the Pro. The fact the Instapot Pro has handles makes a world of different. On the Duo is was a pain pulling the pot out and straining it while hot. On top of that it inner-pot has a heavy bottom and is steel, so it just work like a normal pot on the stove top giving me options in the electrical device and on the stove top. When in doubt get the 6 qt, is fits most things for a 1-4 person household (I'd argue even 6). Might not hold a Large whole chicken, but I manage by being able to breakdown a whole chicken (it isn't hard, just watch a video)

I cook professionally. But at home the Instapot is the best appliance I've gotten. I make Bean from dried at a fraction of the time, amazing quality fresh stock that doesn't require me to to wait 8 hours on a stove top, it takes the place of crockpot, rice cooker (*), and a normal pot. Stews, Gumbo, Chili, and Braises are done greatly when you are pinch for time making what would normally for 5 hour is only an hour or two and near same quality. Which has saved me during a dinner party where my sous dropped braised short ribs 2 hours before plating.

It is an investment but if you eat (or plan to eat) legumes/beans, and you use stock/broth occasionally or consistently in your diet. This will save you some money and time while giving you a better product than store-bought stock/broth and canned beans. Both the beans and stock you make freeze, and cooked frozen bean reheat and thaw fast. And if you freeze veggie scrap (like onion skin, carrot/parsnip peel, celery tops and bottoms) as well and save bones from you chicken (rotisserie, chicken thigns, or whole chicken) you can make stock with all the stuff you were going to throw way anyway. Better than store bought and basically free. Lastly it is great for meal prep and you can set it to have your ingredients in it before leaving to work and being done by the time you get home from work.

If you cook consistently for yourself and/or for loved ones, or want to cook more at home. An Instapot makes thing easy is a press of a button, and the Pro has very convent feature (like handles) i stress make life much more easy. When you get one you will ask "Why didn't I get one sooner?". I work late nights and early morning, this gives me more time and save me from eating out.

*I've mentioned "rice cooker" and I want to expand on this. The Instapot works great as a rice cooker but compared to an actual rice cooker, it is a little slower to cook (20min vs 30-35min) and the rice (especially short-grain/sushi rice) builds starch and stick to the stainless steel pot, requiring a slight bit more finesse to clean. I personally eat rice (and grains) consistently and i like saving 10-15min, so i have both a cheap rice cooker and instapot. However if you want to minimize appliances and need to conserve space in you kitchen, then having just an Instapot will work well enough and do every thing a rice cooker can, plus much MUCH more.

I live in a garage and cook stews, soups and poultry, steaks chicken fajitas, potatoes spaghetti in this thing.. It’s VERY versatile and cooks meat and hard dishes quickly! I foresee great things from this contraption! I have yet to cook a pot of beans but I’ll do that next! Make sure to get the silicone basket for steaming veggies as that thing kicks butt! I’m just happy I don’t have to eat like garbage anymore because of my living situation as this instant pot gives me tons of options! I don’t see myself using the yogurt function but I am interested in trying my hand at baking! Sounds odd but I hear it can be done pretty well! The 6 quart is plenty for small gatherings and can feed 4-6! Made some chicken soup the other day and fed me and my aunt with tons of left overs! It was my lunch and dinner but sadly in this day and age chicken has skyrocketed but so has fast food.. least with this you can eat fresh! Highly recommended!

Been using this hot pot all the time for 3 months. Love the dial controls, the menu options. Well organized, simple, lots of control. One lid for steam and pressure cook instead of two like some pots is awesome. Never going back to two lids. Ability to rest lid in a slot on either side and water drip back into pot is a feature so common sense and smart. It's now a must have. No more messy countertops with a hot lid taking up space. The low heat sturdy handles on the sides of the pot are so awesome. I knew I'd love them, but I do more than I thought. No one else seems to have this and is a primary reason why I bought this pot. Bright shiney easy clean stainless steel pot is eay better than some weird non stick coating. Searing is perfect. Every feature is perefect. I really wanted wifi and meat thermometer features, but this pot is so good I'll just wait until they add it. Hopefully not too long. That's all that's missing. It's way better than my Ninja and anything that I saw while shopping.

Instant Customer service told me that item is back ordered and won't be available till the end of June. The pressure cooker feature won't work without that part , but I intend to use it as a slow cooker and fermenter until I get that part.

I bought this as an open box "acceptable condition." It has 4-5 abrasions on the top of the outer pot which is fine and less than I expected. However, it is also missing the steam release valve. Instant Customer service told me that item is back ordered and won't be available till the end of June. The pressure cooker feature won't work without that part , but I intend to use it as a slow cooker and fermenter until I get that part.

I bought this to make my own homemade yogurt with Lactobacillus reuteri. It works perfect. I had to play with it at first with a thermometer to find the right temperature setting (turned out to be 97 degrees for 36 hours). Now I just throw in 2 litres of all the ingredients directly into the insta pot, whisk well and turn the unit on. Even a week or so after being unplugged and cleaned it still remembers my origional yogurt settings when I want to make a new batch.
