Top reviews from the United States
There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
With that out of the way, the printer was also very easy to set up...took me 30 minutes (give or take..and that was taking my time) from unboxing, setup, calibration & printing out pics ..apparently the other negative reviewer has not touched a printer in 20-30 years or so....but it does have paper instructions (in multiple languages) of step by step what to do & if you can't read, there are animation steps on the display of the printer itself. (if you can't see...then you probably shouldn't be buying a printer anyway.)
Third...the Printer is a beast...as in it is massive 25 inches wide so make sure you have adequate space to set it up. (although smaller than previous models) but this does print 13x19 size paper so it will be bigger than your standard cheap walmart models.
It does take a little time for the printer to "warm up" or shake the ink up so if you have not used it in a while so this may happen...it's perfectly normal. It is slightly noisy when doing so but nothing like a heavy metal concert level noise.
I would have preferred a larger screen AND to have it a touch screen, but that is a nit picky personal preference. (I did much research before investing in this so I already knew about the screen & was ok with it vs my printing needs that took a higher priority)
Printer quality is EXCELLENT. I am a Graphic Artist/Illustrator that does a wide range of art from oil portraits & landscapes to comic book illustrations...and the color is vibrant, & seamless...meaning even under a magnifying glass, I detected no inkjet "dots" from the colors. Better than a Staples or Office Max print out....which after running into problems printing my OWN artwork out, I decided to invest in a large format printer. The Inks seem to be only available (at this time) from Canon directly & I have found 2 other online places that offer them as well. (sadly, as on now not on Amazon) and even a few colors are on backorder. Pretty sure the Pandemic is making that a little harder to mass produce them. This Printer & cartridges (CLI-65) were released in late 2020 so they are relatively new on the market. Each of the 8 inks cost about $13.99 a piece or $105 for all in 1 bundle. It is usually recommended that you buy the inks as you need them as certain colors will be used up quicker than others.
It also comes with a installation CD but you can also download it from the Canon website (also provided in the paperwork) The Canon printing Software, I think is ok, have not used it much (will learn more about it later) but offers many settings..however I prefer at the moment and am able to print using Photoshop's UI...which is quicker for me. I have noticed to get the best results, you must tell Photoshop print menu (& the Canon Software) which paper yuo are printing on. There is also a setting on the printer itself to auto detect or bypass it. I take the extra step and set the paper style myself as it may or may not recognize other brand papers. So far I have used Canon Luster, Glossy II, Staples Matte, all of which have great results. (and intend to get more styles and brands to test out on the future...especial the metallic papers)
The Printer is also wireless capable (tried & works) Airplay capable for Apple products (haven't tried yet) Not sure about android but probably could use the wi fi for that as well. It has an ethernet port & a USB B port for direct connect from computer/laptop to printer. Sadly, no standard USB for flash drives, or SD card slots.
(update: Works just fine wirelessly from my Ipad and My Macbook Air)
That is all I can think of at the moment.
Pros: Beautiful images once you get it set up and figured out. Prints on variety of papers. While I haven't gotten a paper jam yet (knock on wood), I can easily access everywhere there would be one. Folds back up when not in use to a huge rectangle (don't have to leave anything open or extended). Can set it up to shut off after x time or to wake up remotely. Prints large images or sets of images. (Take into account that often phone images are usually 4:3 aspect and DSLR are usually 3:2 depending on your camera. Matters when you want to print, say, a 4x6)
Cons: Weighs a ton. OK, 32 lbs. It's a figure out where you want it and don't move it again item. You need the free Canon Professional Print and Layout at a minimum. Photoshop is ideal, I have an ancient Corel Draw that still works great. Trying to print from Photos if you are simply using camera phone images is an exercise in frustration. Just don't do it for your own sanity. Works almost OK for daylight images, but if you have anything taken in a dark room you likely need some adjustments that just aren't in Photos. The LCD setup screen is so bad you need your computer right next to your printer so you can continually go back and forth, even after setup because you have to register every paper with the Printer, and change the paper type ON THE PRINTER LCD screen every time you want to switch from Luster to Glossy. (Put the paper in the printer, tell the printer what it is on the LCD screen, if you don't have it registered, register it on the LCD screen, go to the application where you are printing your image, set the printer profile, set the paper size, set the paper type (you can get the information from the printer with a button. Sometimes.), do all the rest of the setup for the image, Print). Really? the computer or phone or tablet can't send the printer that information? You have to set it on the Printer? In this day and age?
Luster prints darker than Glossy with the same settings. Brightening helps dark images but loses definition. My 2006 7410xi prints a better "Send a photo to a printer" without all the tweaking. HOWEVER, with the tweaking you can get a FANTASTIC printout from this Pro-200. How much time do you have to spend getting each image exactly right? That is where you must decide.
For me, this is worth it as I have a lot of photos I want to scrapbook, and I want the photos the way I remember them so I am willing to take the time to get each one just right. If you want something you can sell, this works great for that (tweak it once, save it, print it forever more). If you have a brain, you should be able to figure it all out even though they don't TELL you you have to register every kind of paper you use. Sad that the print is different on Matte/luster vs glossy even when the settings are identical. I suggest you find a good sharp daytime image with good color and print out several copies with different settings and keep them for reference. I have 4 of one image with different settings and one setting pleases me on other images every time. One other is ideal for darker images.
This is not plug and print unless your art or photos are perfect to start with (even then maybe, maybe not-I'm not perfect so I don't know). It is a plug and play with the settings until you get it right for what you are trying to print.
It prints very quickly and has a pro print quality to it.
I had a hard time trying to figure out how to print a 11x14 on my MAC but then I found the Canon Professional Print & layout MAC ap on the Canon Web Page. After I downloaded that, it was easy to set up any size I want.
My family has already asked me to print many photos for them and every one of them has turned out beautiful. No streaking and drys quickly.
Now with that said this is not a printer for every day use. It is not a document printer just strictly photo or brochure printer. I have a secondary printer for every day.
Allways keep the covers closed until ready to print. Dust can get on the the print to edge pad and cause trouble. I have not had any issues but others say it is important so that is what I do.
If you are a semi-pro photographer this is the printer for you.

Setup was easy including the ability to print from iPhone.
It’s a compact but large printer that’s quite and simple to use. Recommend using wireless printing options so you can locate the printer in another room

I bought this printer at great cost for my photography business, and undeniably the printing output is just everything I want. But without the refill ink it's not very useful. I spoke with the Amazon seller on email, and even they don't have the canon ink! Now I am all helpless with none to blame but myself. I am not getting any response from Canon via phone, whatsapp, emails whatsoever, just the automated replies. Why is Canon selling these printers if they can't produce the refill kits in the market?? It's a shame for such a huge company!!

La calidad es buena pero nada especial.
Lo peor de todo es que solo reconoce papeles canon, si quieres imrpimir en tamaño carta no lo reconoce. Esto es algo que debe de aclararse en la info del producto y no lo supe hasta recibir el producto.
