    I really like how well built this rack is and how sort the rubber pads are that contact the car. The straps that secure the actual bike are a soft enough rubber compound that I don't anticipate any issues with my bikes finish being scratched. The anti sway attachment for the bottom tube also works well and the bike doesn't move much even over big speed bumps on my lowered car with stiff coilovers. My bike a commencal Clash is a heavy bike likely at or slightly above the 35lb/bike limit and it showed no issues.However 4 stars due to the lack of any real way to secure the entire unit to the vehicle... If somebody wanted to steal the bike and entire rack nothing loops totally thru the trunk to prevent someone from loosening all 6 straps and simply stealing the entire thing.You could call this nitpicking but with the price of mountain bikes these days in the multiple thousands this should be thought about with a future version.

    We had been putting both our 8yo’s kids bike and my husband’s folding trail bike inside the SUV but we were super crowded inside the vehicle with the bikes, people and 60-pound bernedoodle.
    So I ordered this, installed it and now we’re much more comfortable. We don’t have 3 bikes but we got the 3-bike rack so we could bring my daughter’s friend or friends and their bikes. Love it

    I bought the 3-bike version because of its higher weight tolerance but I wouldn't load more than two unless one is a child's bike. I'm not saying that it can't do it but I just didn't get that good feeling- lots of bouncy bounce on that outer-most rung in the driveway. My first rack had some hairline cracks in both arms at the same point in their arch so I sent it back as the box it came in was damaged as well. My second one looked good and operated very well. After two 100 mile trips, one in the rain and one in the dry, I experienced no problems but I will say that I highly recommend that after loading the bikes, pull-over a mile or two down the road and tighten things up one more time. No fault of the device but things loosen up from the shifting of the bikes and the swaying of the vehicle. For me, the side and bottom straps had slop in them even though I tightened them well in the driveway. After that, everything remained tight. One other thing, there are anti-sway straps under the arms that can be forgotten but those are pretty much hit and miss in terms of lining up or conforming to the style bike you have. They didn't work for me, not even close, but I didn't really need them. Buy plenty of bungee cords instead- you'll need them. I'll update in a year.

    NOTE: You will need bungee cords or straps (not included) to keep your bikes' front wheels from moving around.

    I bought this after I had to start borrowing a car that did not have a hitch. I wanted a bike rack that was more versatile than my hitch-mount bike rack -- something I could use on most cars. The Saris Bones EX fit the bill.

    I bought one of these and had to return it for another one due to Saris' poor quality control. A Committed To Quality card with a hand-initialed QC Check is included with each rack but the QC checks aren't being properly done. Even though they were brand new, the first one smelled like cigarette smoke and was really dirty. It was also missing one of the two strap management caps. The second one didn't have those problems but the ratchets were installed incorrectly so I had to redo them. The included instructions aren't very detailed so having the ratchets installed incorrectly added to the confusion of mounting this rack for the first time.

    The Saris rack is fairly sturdy but not as sturdy as my hitch-mount rack. But I guess that's to be expected of just about any trunk-mount rack. Still, I was disappointed to discover my bicycle, a Priority Continuum Onyx, didn't mount completely flush against the rack. The bicycle has a relatively standard frame but the seat tube has about an inch of space between it and where the hold down is attached to the rack. The hold down keeps it somewhat sturdy but there is that inch of space for movement. It seems like Saris could easily redesign the seat tube hold downs to better secure a wider range of bike frame geometries.

    The bike rack fit a 2018 Honda Fit well and it appears to be able to fit quite a wide variety of vehicle shapes.

    Overall, despite Saris' quality control problems and my bike not fitting snugly, I still recommend this bike rack due to its ability to fit a wide range of car shapes.

    This is by far the worst carrie I've ever used.

    Starting with pre-sale customer support from Saris: I contacted them by email as their website did not have the neccessary information. They replied several days later with an automated response that they they would look into my enquiry and follow up. The follow-up was an apology that the automated response took longer than usual. Nothing of my original fit questions.

    When the carrier arrived, the strap assembly was wadded up and thrown in the box. The instructions gave no clue how to attach the assembly to the carrier. I had to scour the internet looking as photos to find that it goes through the center tube.

    Once assembled, attaching to the vehicle tailgate was fairly straightforward, but took a fair bit of time since it balances on the gate and doesn't sit on the bumper or trunk. The instructions are nearly useless. The whole process took about 45 minutes.

    After adjusting the carrier to fit my BMX race bike, the carrier slid down the gate. It turns out the straps were fed through backwards and worked their way loose.

    Even after correctly routing the straps the carrier worked loose. Had to knot the straps.

    Wirh the carruer secured to the vehicle, the knobs that secure the legs come loose with road vibration.

    Bikes are difficult to put on. Im carrying two race bikes and had to move the arms inward to fit the bike frame. I cant see trying to fit three bikes on the carrier, even if they are small ones without damaging the bikes or vehicle. Weight isnt an issue with these bikes.

    The plastic buckles are cheaply made and nearly fall apart sliding them together. I don't think they have a long expectancy.

    I would not recommend this carrier for any application that mounts to a tailgate or for any small framed bikes, BMX or kids.

    This is better suited to a purely trunk mount and with the almost entirely plactic construction it doesn't seem like it will last with daily use.

    Spend the money and have a receiver installed on a compact SUV and use a hitch mount carrier.

    Compré el soporte de 3 bicicletas para usarla con 2 grandes y evitar que se rayen entre sí, entran sin problema dos bicicletas grandes y una pequeña.

    La calidad de los materiales es buena y el armado es fácil, espero que sea resistente, sobre todo en las correas que son las que soportan todo el peso.

    Los broches que amarran a las bicicletas son grandes, eso permite que bicis con tubos grandes en los marcos entren sin problema y queden bien aseguradas(a diferencia de otros racks).

    Para las bicis que uso, (Trek Marlin) No fue necesario comprar tubos adicionales para poderla montar al rack.

    Mi única queja es que las correas no quedan puestas correctamente sobre el rack, quedan mal puestas y no hay manera de ponerlas correctamente ya que el peso las vence.

    Completamente recomendado.
