    Beware of several issues

    Beware of several issues
Cons1.Issue#1. It requires 12V input (normally cigarette lighter port) and can't be powered by any USB!2. Issue#2. It has to be hardwired to use the parking mode!"The 12V Car Charger cannot be used for Parking Mode" - says in the instruction, and it's not obvious cause my plan was to use power hub with cigarette lighter. You can't use the app to make it switch to the energy/memory saving parking mode state either, and if you plug it in to any constant 12V DC output - it will continue to record continuously as if you are driving, the internal battery protection switch will not be engaged , and it will drain the battery fairly fast.3. Issue#3 - the polarized filter keeps falling off - it's just a flat piece of glass that is taped on top of the camera lens - no latches or grooves to hold it in place. Very BAD design. ANNOYING!4. The hard-wiring harness is Made in CHINA. Before you hardwire the camera - open up the protective casing and solder the DAMN connections. After I installed everything it worked for one day and then stopped. It totally freaked me out cause I thought I burned something in my car. Turned out (after 4 hours of testing my fuse box , battery voltage, etc - I discovered the connection fell off (see the picture).Pros:1. Made in Korea. Way better built compared to Viofo139 Pro (made in china) that I originally installed that overheated and stopped recording after one week.2. Despite their claims in the description - it DOES support 250GB SD card and possibly even larger. You just need to format it by holding rec button. 250Gb is way better then 64, especially if parking mode is needed.5. Works out of the box. Unlike Viofo139 that did not provide SD card or hard wiring harness (70$ extra), this one contains SD and hardwiring harness, spare 3M, and cable clips. It could make installation easy if I didn't have to mess with the cigarette lighter socket.

The high quality footage and easy integration have helped me to love this product. I used the hard-wire setup that I purchased to hard wite it into the car so that it always remains charged. As such, I can't speak to battery function of plugging it into the 12 v outlet in the car.

Mounting the camera was simple and the guide easy to follow.
The app used to connect to the camera works well.
The camera has a network you can connect to that will transmit information to the phone without the use of cables. I found that I would lose service when connected since I had wifi calling selected on my phone (my house had poor phone service). Once wi-fi calling was turned off, I no longer experienced this issue and could be connected to the camera and use my data. I believe that was more of an issue with my phone settings than anything else.
The camera continues to serve me well and exceed my expectations.
I recently had a problem with my hardwiring set up - not due to quality of the product but due to other reasons. ThinkWare quickly replaced the product and their customer service was excellent.

We bought this for our 1yr old 2021 Rav4 in July 2022 and had it installed by a professional. In January 2023, while across town picking up my son from sports practice my car died. I jumped it but it wouldn't hold the charge. Being a new car I was able to get a tow to the dealer, but had to wait 2hrs.. across town with my son. Toyota had the car for 2 days testing it and replaced the cars battery. They couldn't figure out what was wrong, but the battery was done. We had our suspicious it was the 6 month old dash cam but weren't sure as we've never had a dash cam before. July 2023 we bought a brand new hybrid Lexus RX and we pulled the cameras out of the Rav4, leaving the wiring behind. We had it re-installed in the RX. November 2023 and we go to use the car on a saturday morning and the car is dead. We again call for a tow truck, to boost our new hybrid. He can't boost it and he can't charge the battery up. Have the car towed to the Lexus dealer. The battery is done and they will replace it. This time, we pull the SD card out of the car and check it. The files left on the card that are not corrupted show lower battery levels than it should be. The files after that are corrupted and then it stopped recording all together. We get our car back and and put the SD card back in and the camera just clicks. It won't even turn on. We are now 4 months past the warranty on the dash camera. We call to ask Thinkware what could be the possible issues, as we have the same camera in our new 2023 Lexus ES and are concerned about that car's battery now failing us. Thinkware support tells us to change the threshold of low voltage so that it will turn off sooner. As far as the one that is broken and has caused as so much trouble.. well.. maybe it was a bad install.. well, we paid a professional to install it, twice, in two different cars. Well.. we can pay to have it repaired. Well.. my problem now was, do I trust that this company has a quality product and that the other camera is not damaging the battery in my other car as well? My answer would be confirmed by Thinkware customer service and their management. They do not stand behind their product more than the 12 months warranty (at this point we are at 16 months). They types of issues we have had and the extreme inconvenience and expense, apparently not an anomaly that they would stand behind. We have removed the camera from the other car (it is 6 months old - maybe I should have sent in this receipt) and will be speaking to the professional installer that we bought the second one from about different brands. Don't waste your money on this camera. If you get a faulty one and it kills your battery so that the dealer can't even re-charge it, you will be out the expense of a new battery.. and be stranded wherever your car happens to die. Worst, Thinkware doesn't even care. You may as well buy whatever Chinese brand for this level of quality.

I have had this camera system for a few years now. Two complaints: reading license plates is not as easy as some reviews I have read, I call B.S.. second: after a few years the speaker began to static when first turned on - I suspect this is because of the Texas heat coupled with the heat of the front facing unit.

That being said, it's a pretty clear picture and video - both front and rear cameras. It does record sound in the cabin if you choose to turn on that feature. This system also shows speed. I am overall satisfied and despite the static when first turned on now, I would still give this set up a five star rating.

I have had these two cameras in four different vehicles that I have purchased. Pretty resilient wiring if you're careful on install and removal.

I ordered this through THINKWARE USA on amazon and they sent me the wrong item. I left a review dinging them about it, until i could receive the correct product. I have recieved an email to update my review now that my refund went through and i got the correct item. However, that review seems to have gone missing. I thought it was worth mentioning.

THINKWARE USA made good and refunded me the money and owned the shipping return fees. Currently, waiting the 7-10days for the money to hit my account. I have since then received a replacement from, "FFB Tech" on amazon.

    To the actual device:

I haven't messed with all the features yet or tested out everything yet, but what i have noticed so far.

    Pros:
    - Installation wasn't to bad there are lots of videos walking you through things for my car online and about the camera.
    - The video clips so far are very good and build quality seems very nice.
    - Transferring over wifi is pretty slow when it comes to 4k video files, but isn't terrible. I am working on writing a quick script to back up files on the regular to a drive. So when my car is parked at the house I don't ever have to wait to review them. If the speed is too slow you can always pull the SD card out and move it to your computer.

    Cons
    - Linking my phone and tablet to the wifi was a bit difficult. There are like 4 apps on the android market for thinkware dash cams. I had lots of trouble for a while but was able to get one of them to work. So if you have issues try the other apps. I also had to turn off my wifi -> advanced -> Intelligent Wi-Fi and turn off "Switch to mobile data" in order to get it to properly connect.
    - It is pretty expensive camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is Thinkware's Flagship Dash Cam Worth the Money? I think So.

Style: Front & Rear Cam, 32GB, 12V, Hardwiring, CPLVerified Purchase
Is the Flagship Dash Cam from Thinkware worth the money? I think so. Ask yourself why you need/want a dash cam in the first place. It's to record incidents with as much detail for evidence purposes if needed. The video quality is everything and this dash cam delivers. I received my dash cam in the factory box with the factory seal on it unbroken. Forget the last review for this item something is fishy about that. Besides your dealing with Amazon who has no problems exchanging or refunding your order if the wrong item is shipped. The installation is easy and most people should be able to do it with ease. The hardest part of the installation is identifying the fuses to connect the hard wire kit. That's only because it takes a bit of time to identify the correct fuses with a tester or volt meter. I purchased the radar for this system as well but it's not available through Amazon at this time. You will need additional items to complete the installation. I highly recommend purchasing a trim removal kit. Amazon has many choices available. It does make it easier to remove molding and trim from your vehicle. You will need a fuse tester or volt meter to identify the correct fuses in your vehicle. You will also need to purchase fuse tap adapters. Verify the correct fuse type that you will be using. I made the mistake of ordering mini fuse adapters and my vehicle had Micro 2 fuse adapters. All-in-all the installation was easy and the results are fantastic. I highly recommend this dash cam for the users that are serious about obtaining video evidence of an event.

I installed this in an afternoon on an F150. There was some challenging routing for wiring the optional rear cam as I have a sunroof and there are side curtain and pillar airbags everywhere in that truck. All told, the provided wiring could be a couple of feet longer to give more flexibility. However, everything seems like it will stand up to a few years of use. The instructions are reasonably detailed. The camera itself is beautifully compact and easy to aim. So far, the videos I have reviewed are clear and smooth.
