It looks great and very practical and user friendly! However, this is the second time I have purchase a pressure cooker from Amazon and it is kinda damaged! The first order was an “excellent” refurbished one which I had to return the item due to broken bottom! This time it’s only damaged a little bit and I wanna keep it cause I like it and need it, but not quite happy with seeing this on my purchase!

I was always pretty anti-kitchen gadgets. The InstantPot seemed like just another thing that did stuff I could already do on my stove or oven. Boy, was I wrong.

I honestly am in disbelief how much I love using this thing. It is so versatile that I use it more than anything else in my kitchen, except maybe the sink.

The reasons why? Well, for starters it’s super easy to clean. Instead of making a mess with multiple pans and pots and lids with food stuff splattering everywhere, the InstantPot is one thing that’s fully contained. When the timer ends I take out the food, clean the pot, and wipe down the lid and little “gutter” and that’s it. Two, it’s so FAST! Now, granted some things will feel like they take the same or similar amount of time when pressure cooking because the machine has to build pressure. BUT, the difference is that I can set this and LEAVE! When it’s ready it beeps and I can choose to keep the food warm or have it stop cooking when the timer is done.

What really sold me on finally purchasing this is the air fryer attachment. I’ve been wanting an air fryer so this was much cheaper than buying everything separately. I will say that while I do love the air fryer it’s probably not the best on the market. When using a two-tiered basket, whatever is in the top portion *will* be more cooked than the bottom. This is a problem I will try to fix by simply removing the top portion when it’s cooked and letting the bottom cook longer until it’s done. Not ideal, but for delicious air fried food ans the convenience of having these capabilities from one machine at this price, I’ll make do.

I recommend purchasing an InstantPot cookbook to accompany this. It will help acquaint you to how this machine can be used, even if the cookbook is more oriented towards one of the models without the air fryer.

What do I use this for? So far I’ve made vegan chana masala (yum!), vegan banana bread (yum!), air fried Brussels sprouts (yum!), truffle fries (you get the idea). I’ve also used this to steam food to make dog food for my pup with allergies. One of my favorite things to use this for is dry goods!! I will dump a whole bag of dry beans or quinoa or whatever in the pot, add spices, water, set it, and it’s done to perfection so quickly! I’ll then can everything and freeze it so I have beans and quinoa on hand all the time whenever I need them for a meal! It’s the best! Not to mention the pressure cooker seems to really INFUSE whatever you’re cooking with the spices you choose. The beans I’ve made with this I’ve eaten plain they were so so tasty!

I live with roommates but this has been the best purchase ever. I’m lucky to have the room to store it, but it’s also great because they can cook on the stove or in the oven if they want, and I have everything I need right in this InstantPot so no one has to wait on anyone to clear out before they can do their own thing.

Things I wish it did differently:
- I wish the display showed seconds. Minor inconvenience but the display in general makes it feel cheap.
- I wish the display showed what setting it was on and what action it was currently doing. For example, a small icon for “pressure cooking” so you can remember that you chose the correct setting. Or a little icon that showed it was building pressure so you don’t think you didn’t hit “start” or something before waking away. Also, something that showed the current temperature inside instead of what you set it to so you know how things are cooking or heating up/cooling down.
- A persistant beep every minute or so when food is finished cooking.

I absolutely ADORE this instant pot. It does everything I could want, and being in a small apartment with limited counter space, it's fantastic. Slow cooking, steaming, airfrying, and for those hotter days just doing some baking, it's the best.

Great price for how many jobs it does, and it's something I always recommend to people if they're looking to get a new airfryer.

I messed up my insta pot and was heart broken over it. I didn't realize how expensive these things are. I looked for weeks at the prices then I found this one on special because of a little dent. The price was perfect plus it is a air fryer. I jumped on buying it. It's bigger than the one that got destroyed, I am happy with it over all. I haven't used it but I am sure it works very good or even better than my other one. As for the dent in the outside of, I could care less. I am all about performance.

So... the story of this purchase is that I needed to replace my air fryer (for some reason, my air fryers don't last longer than 2 years until something in that plastic housing cracks), and I was tempted by the advertised versatility and the obviously sturdy construction of this one. I have a small kitchen, and the idea of an "all-in-one" machine was tempting.
The thing I certainly regret: not waiting until it got on sale (both for Amazon Prime Day and for Black Friday)
I've had the Instant Pot Duo Crisp for over a month now, and in this month I have tried a lot of its functionality.
It is certainly a good pressure cooker. It is excellent for making stews, beans, stocks. I am not a huge fan of pressure cookers, but I am still trying to learn how to use it. I like the larger size, as I cook for larger crowds on a regular basis, and I do like the "set it and forget it" nature of the instant pot if I am preparing larger meals.
The air fryer option was the reason I decided to go for it. Now, there is a problem - the separate air fryer lid needs to be kept somewhere, and that, in my kitchen, is a problem. As an air fryer, it is not bad, but it is a smaller one and size is a huge thing for air fryers, so that the air can circulate correctly. It does fit under the cabinets with the lid on, but it gets to be a pain if you need to open it to turn the food. Plus, no option to just shake it as I used to do with the dedicated air fryer. All-in-all, it works, but not in love with it.
The sous vide option was part of the reason I bought it. I have a Sansaire and Anova immersion sticks, but the fact that you have the lid on is a huge plus for longer cooking. The downside though, temperature control leaves a lot to be desired - it can easily be a couple of degrees off when checked with a thermometer, and sous vide is all about precise temperature. Also, the pot is again on the smaller side for sous vide, but it would have been just great for say a couple of steaks. That being said, it was pretty convenient for veggies, where I am way less sensitive on having a precise temperature.
I used the sous vide setting to make yogurt - that came out really nicely, and you can line the air fryer contraption with cheesecloth to strain the yogurt afterward, which was pretty convenient.
The slow cooker option is not bad, but the pot is on the smaller side for that too. An oval slow cooker is way more convenient.
The saute function works as expected. And I still have to play with more functions.
What I was disappointed with was the manual, which does not cover all the functions; and I would have appreciated a recipe book that would offer a few examples for each of the functions available. Yes, it is possible to find plenty of recipes on the web, but it would have been useful to me to have maybe just one example recipe that demonstrated how to use steam, or what the difference between "roast" and ''bake" is.
All in all, I am probably happy I bought it, even though I am not in love with it. It is pretty decent for a lot of things that I want, but it doesn't seem to excel in any of them. However, I would still consider myself to be on the learning curve for it :)

Love that I can free up space by having just one unit. My old Instant pot did not have the air fryer. It's nice that I don't have to have one for air fry and one pressure cooker. This frees up space on my countertop.
Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2024
I have never gotten more use out of an appliance as this instant pot in such a short time frame. I have had an instant pot before, all features work just as well. The addition of the air fryer is a dream. Tested against frying in oil and air fry setting in toaster oven. Neither of those came even close. I will be using the sous vide setting next and I am more than excited to give it a try.
