You are a zombie.

The dice represent humans. You want their brains. Take 3 out of the cup (without looking), and then roll them.

You want brains.

Each time you roll a brain, set it aside. They count for points. If you roll any feet, they got away. If you chose to roll again, you will draw up to three dice and roll again.

Don't get shotgunned!

As you roll, each shotgun blast you get must be set aside. So push your luck, but not too far! If you get three blasts, your turn ends and you lose all of the brains (points) you earned that turn.

Eat 13 brains and WIN!

Add up your brains each round. When someone reaches 13 (or more!), everyone else gets one more chance. The zombie with the most brains wins!

FUN!!! See my scoresheet for younger kids (it's not as un-educational as you think!)
I initially bought this just for fun for my own kids. They loved it so much that I use it for some of my kids I tutor. I know you are thinking, "how educational is Zombie Dice!!!??" BUT!! What I do is use the dice as a reward for answering a question. Each student (usually a group of 4 or less) gets asked a question (it depends on the subject what the question might be.) If they get it right, they get to roll. I usually give them hints or something so they don't lose their turn entirely. The first person to reach 13 BRAIIIIINS! is the winner.FOR YOUNGER KIDS (or just to make it eaiser): I made my own little score sheet (I posted an image above in the product photos):It is simply a paper that has the rules and 13 squares. On their turn, the student gets the dice (after their question of course!) They roll. If they have 3 "shotguns" or more...their turn is over. If they have less than that they get to choose to keep rolling or count the brains they have rolled so far. They separate out the shotguns so they can keep track of how close to "3" they are. When they wish to stop (before reaching the limit of 3 shotguns) they cross out that many brains on their scoresheet. Play continues until one player passes the 13 mark. We don't really get into the red, yellow and green colors with most younger students. With older kids, we talk about the sides of the red dice versus the other colors and how the probability is more difficult when you are rolling mostly red dice (versus rolling mostly greens.) Edit: I should have noted that I changed the word "shotgun" to "strike" when I use this at school. "Three strikes you're out" is actually easier for them to remember anyway. It is really a motivating game...I am not even sure why. I almost thought that it might be scary or something for kids, but it is not. They ALL request to play it. Even special needs kids who I assume know what zombies are from television commercials or somewhere. At the end of the school term, I always let them choose one of their favorite games to replay again. The top 3 all-time requests are:1. Pass the Pigs2. Zombie Dice3. Yahtzee Super Mario (which I also modified, I have a photo there, too.)

Note: The drawstring bag shown in the pictures is not included. The pictures shown are for the basic set plus the two expansions, all of which neatly fit into the included plastic cup.

Zombie Dice is a fun, interesting, brilliant, fast, and EASY game. With the two expansions, a total of eight possible permutations of the game is possible, allowing for a series of games with gradually expanding rules to be played.

The drawsting bag is a necessity because mixing the dice in the cup is LOUD, obnoxiously and irritatingly loud. The cup is fantastic for storage but terrible for actual play.

The rules sheets were poorly folded and easily ripped, so I scanned mine, printed them out double sided at appropriate sizes, and laminated and trimmed them so that they line the inside of the storage cup.

If I were to add one thing to this set, it would be a Bag o' Brains from Twilight Creations. Of the twenty-five brain tokens. I would mark a '5' on nine of them. This would provide enough score tokens for a four-player game.

Pro: This game is extremely easy to learn, very fast paced, and the more people you have the more fun it is. A very simple dice game that has the whole party excited with each roll.

Con: For more advanced gamers it lacks a little depth, but the expansion helps with that a bit and it’s just so darn fun that replaying is never an issue, especially at a party or holiday with the family.

Kids: I have a 7 year old and a 5 year old who play and love this game. They love plans vs. zombies so they love the zombie theme and love the idea of being zombies themselves. They got the rules very quickly and because it is a dice game, this is one of the few games our 2 year old can play with our guidance where the physical part of the game he does on his own. (just pick up 3 dice and roll). This helps when playing a game as a family that sometimes is too complicated for him. I would recommend it for a mature 5 year old and certainly for 6 and 7 year olds and older who like games.

Other: Because it is a dice game, my brother who has Cerebral Palsy and struggles with fine motor control loved this game, because it was so easy for him to do physically. (He won a bunch of the games.)

Overall: This game rocks overall, the only con I had was a slight one, and people who play it once or see it played usually get excited to continue to play it. This has become a family favorite, it is also a game we know we can break out at any time, with any crowd anywhere and have fun with. We had a ton of fun, yelling and cheering on Christmas day at my uncles house, it was a blast (shotgun that is  )

This set comes with the original zombie dice, instructions and a cup. No expansions, I deliberately bought them separately so I could get the cup. This is such a fun game. It's easy to learn and quick to play. It is great for families or parties. We play it all the time. I have purchased this several times for myself, friends and family. My only complaint is that the cup starts showing wear and tear pretty quickly but like I said, we play a lot. It's looks great and is definitely worth the money.

I rated THE GAME itself highly because it is a fun game and I will enjoy playing it. HOWEVER, I'm very disappointed with the shipping of this item as well as the apparent fact that it is a recycled return. The plastic cover of the game packaging was completely separated from the backing card stock. The dice were loose in the shipping envelope due to this fact. BUT the most obvious reason to claim it was recycled is the fact that there was a die in the canister,( which was closed) that in no way pertains to this game. Nor does it come from any of the expansions. It is a red die with cats and numbers on it. Clearly NOT zombie dice . So while the cup and dice were in good order, Amazon most definitely took a return and resold it as new.
