Love it better than other bike rack systems

Love it better than other bike rack systems
This is on a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. It went on pretty easy but definitely needed someone to feed the loops through the small gap in the bottom of the Dodge tail gate that has a bed liner. Once in it fit nice and snug and did not move. My new bike- Trek Verve 3 is not a typical round front post - (where you place in the cradle) and it wanted to tip during transportation- all other bike that we transferred that had a round front post didn’t move at all. Overall I ended up working that out but it was the fault of the shape of this one bike. There is no way to prevent it from being stolen and you will not be able to put your tonneau cover on when it’s on your truck. The 62 inch goes across my gate perfect, feels and looks very durable and I think it’s well worth the money!

Great product as long as you don't have a camper shell.

When considering the options for a bike rack to place on our truck, I was surprised to discover this tailgate option. We loved its simplicity and ability to remove it when not in use. Basically, we place it over the tailgate and tighten the straps by looping it underneath the tailgate...a process that takes maybe 5 minutes. Though my husband can do the entire process by himself, he often places the bikes into the truck and I latch them in. The bikes (we own cruiser and road bikes) are secure and don't shift around once you place them tightly in. After we unload I choose to remove it from the tailgate and place it in the locked truck only because I don't trust people not to steal it! We did look at cheaper options but they seemed, well cheap! This one had a nice soft back so it wouldn't scratch the truck, a flap (which is so awesome because it allows us to use the backup camera even though tire spokes may be over it) and the curved place where you put the tire just looked more solid. Worth the money!

Tundra, no paint scuffs, slides side to side a little even when cinched down and positioned well, tuck the camera/latch flap in, I leave it on for the riding season, starting to fade and dry out a little, will see how long it lasts.

This is an inexpensive great quality easy way to transport your bike or bikes with your truck! Bikes sit solidly in the back and don't move around. Perfect for when you have a full load or are pulling a camper or boat because you can still access all of that while your bikes are in the bed. Only disadvantage there is between the tailgate pad and a bike rack is if you only have 1 bike you can't lock it to anything to keep someone from taking it. If you have multiple bikes you can lock them together. Great product!

I have an e-MTB with the battery integrated into the frame, and another XC MTB. Works great with both; the straps are plenty long.

No issues with shifting side to side, and fit my full size truck's tailgate perfectly.

I did a solid week of research before buying this pad, and was convinced that this probably wasn't going to work, but it was the best option. I wish I hadn't stressed so much, because there is not a single thing I'd change about this pad. It's great, and I also like the subdued Yakima logo; I didn't want to be driving around a billboard.

I know everyone has a different truck and a different bike, but for my setup, I don't think there's a better pad.

This is great on F-150. Great protection for bikes and tailgate, can carry full load of mountain bikes. Hard to tuck straps under and around tailgate. Solution: just don’t strap it onto the tailgate unless going for a serious trip. Up the road to your local MTB go-to? Just throw it up on the tailgate for the ride, then lock it in the back of the cab if you’re worried about theft.
The quality is legit, I found a good one first try on Amazon, which I’m glad of.

I have tried numerous bike racks and even built my own and none of them have been this easy to use or as effective. I purchased a large size for a 2016 Ram 2500 and it fit well. The tailgate is convex but the crash pad still worked. I had the straps run parallel to the frame geometry of the bikes and fastened them to the pad. You don't have to pull extremely tight. Just make them snug and you are in business. I noticed overtime the stitching could be effected by trying to cinch down to aggressively. I live in an area with constant road construction and the bikes stayed in place despite the rough roads. One of the best things about this crash pad is that I get a huge amount of bed space back in my truck.

Received the Gatekeeper ahead of the original arrival date, which was a plus. Easy to put on tailgate and worked very well. I had lots of clearance between the bike tires and my trailer tongue jack. The big disappointment was the quality. The velcro on the cover flap for your backup camera was not sewn probably. Actually, half of the velcro was hanging lose. Its like they took a coffee break half way through the sew job. This should've been easily caught during production. I use to expect high quality from Yakima. I guess those days are gone.
