easy to apply. will be buying more in future
i got this to use instead of filson tin. it covers way more material. you do need to use a heatgun and it still remains more on surface but i think it goes further. used 1/2 bar for sleeves chest back and shoulders of filson guide sweater and the rest plus another half (total 1.5 bars) for filson tincloth cruiser. just walked in rain for 30 minutes and water beaded off. its easier than using beeswax and has pine smell. its the texture of earwax so not too hard and not a paste but some pressure and warmth from hands it goes right onto material. will be buying more in future since i have a bunch of oilskin stuff including tincloth bibs i wear daily. not looking foward to waxing those lol.

My canvas bag was waterproof again after the treatment. It therefore works perfectly. I treated the bag with a hair dryer immediately after waxing, so the product was well absorbed and no residue remained on the bag.

I used this product to treat my Barbour and the product is great, easy to apply and provide lasting waterproof treatment. I waxed my Barbour 2 years ago now and so far the product is still performing as the first day I applied it. I highly recommend it.

I bought this canvas wax about a year ago for waxing a messenger bag that I have owned for years that is starting to fall apart, in hopes that the wax would protect the fibers a bit. I'm happy to say that it has down just that, and a pretty good job at it too. There is only one thing I have to complain about (thus why I rated this 4 stars) and that is that there were very little instructions on how to apply the wax, not to mention clean it. I think it suggested using their own waxed fabric cleaner, but again, no further details really. Apply it was difficult for me, but I got the job done. I will say that if you're trying to wax rougher cloth such as canvas, it's near impossible to make the wax set in all the way without the use of a blow dryer. If it doesn't set into all the fibers, the wax is prone to dry out and flake off, especially in dryer climates. Make sure to use a heat source to "melt" the wax into the fibers, the result will be much more desirable! Okay, so that was the only negative thing I had to say about this. It has done a great job at waterproofing my bag, keeping the contents inside dry, and protecting the bag itself from further deterioration. Excellent product, I will buy it again! :)

I purchased the extra large bar for the same price as this 2.25oz bar a few years ago here on Amazon. Anyways, this 2.25oz bar was just enough to treat a men’s medium sized cotton jacket. Do yourself a favor and use a cheap heat gun to melt it in, it will save you lots of time. Watch some videos on how to use apply it. My jacket is now very water resistant and blocks the wind better. A waxed cotton jacket is more durable than synthetic materials. I had the tiniest campfire ember land on my expensive down jacket and it burned a hole straight through it. This doesn’t happen with waxed cotton. Also waxed cotton is way more stylish.

Took a new canvas / cotton jacket and made it both wind and water resistant. I thought it would be a much messier process. Rubbed into the jacket easily. The worst part was melting it into the jacket with the hair dryer, took a while. Total time for the project was 2 hours. Let it hang dry in the furnace room for a day. Very happy with the finished project.

This is a decent product in terms of cost-effectiveness. I should point out, though, that this wax helps fabrics to resist (repel) water; it does not make them water-proof. I used it on a canvas messenger bag, and it works ok if you just have to walk for ten minutes under the rain, for instance, which is the only thing I needed. For anything more than that, you should use some other (actual) water-proofing method.

As some other users have indicated, the instructions on the package are not terribly helpful. I added, apparently, too much wax at first and thus the canvas didn't really dry, even after five days. I tried putting the waxed bag inside a pillowcase and using the tumble drier for half hour, but didn't help much. Since I knew that providing heat was important for curing the fabric, I ended up using an oven, which finally did the trick. So... my two cents:

- DO NOT apply too much wax at first. It's much better to give the fabric a light layer, let it dry, and then apply another one. If you have never done this, is hard to tell how much is too much, but let us say that the wax should not be too noticeable and you should still be able to feel the texture of the fabric, despite being a little sticky.
- HEAT IS IMPORTANT. I used an oven (a regular stove oven) because I figured that it was better to apply heat evenly across all the fabric. I should say that an oven at 200 F for 20 or 25 minutes works fine. Don't over do it, specially if your waxed object has metal parts. If it has plastic parts, just don't do it at all. After the oven, my bag looked and felt great, no white stains and good water resistance.
-BONUS: kind of obvious, but different fabrics take a different amount of time to dry. Case in point, the canvas from my bag dried much faster than the webbing shoulder strap, a plastic-based fabric.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and works great!

A great fabric wax, that is easy to use, and completes the job really well. I used it to re-wax my flint and tinder jacket. A gentle rub across the fabric, worked in with my fingers and then used a hairdryer to help absorb. There was already wax within the jacket so only a third of the bar was needed. It smells great and appealed to my dog who ate the other two thirds. I will be buying again when needed, as I'm not sure that I can claim under warranty. It works, it's great and it's natural. Oh, and dogs love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use
Reviewed in Canada on December 2, 2023
I used this on a pair of Parkhurst Goodyear Welt waxed suede boots as I got ready for winter. I wanted them to be really waterproof and to be easy to clean when slush and salt got on the leather. The suede was waxed when I received the boots, with some pull up. As I approached winter and there was more pull up i wanted to rewax. I rubbed the wax on and the heated it with a blow dryer to help it seep into the leather. The results were fantastic.

Water is beading right off the boot. As an added bonus, there is a bit of a waxy shine that I wasn’t expecting, and I can choose to either buff out scuffs, or to allow them to show the suede color underneath.

Highly recommend.
