Product Description

The Orbit Zinc Impact Sprinkler on Zinc Spike is ideal for watering large areas. Designed for dependability, impact heads have an uninterrupted water flow and are clog-resistant, even when used with dirty or reclaimed water from ponds and canals. Attached to a zinc step spike, this sprinkler sprays up to an 85-ft. diameter. Easily adjust the coverage from a partial section to a full circle. Features a deflector shield for distance adjustment and an anti-backsplash arm to aid in spray pattern and area coverage. A simple twist of the diffuser screw breaks up the water stream, creating larger or smaller water droplets. The flow-through outlet allows you to connect multiple sprinklers to expand your watering areas depending on water pressure. The all-metal construction is designed to hold up against the typical wear and tear that most impact sprinklers experience, giving you years of dependable use.

Greatest portable sprinkler ever

Purchased Set of 5 but really only needed four, (Front, back and two side yards) Have had these in the past, best sprinkler ever, does my entire yard without having to move it! customizable both in spray-reach & spray height. For Spray reach two metal bands around the Sprinkler neck can be customized to adjust to a full circle orbit or precisely the half or 3/4 reach your space might need and for spray-height, there is an aluminum tip just above where the spray is released Which you can move up or down to point the water spray higher or Lower) you can adapt each/both to your individual space, so much better than a regular sprinkler which i had to keep moving. I separately purchased a faucet manifold and set up two hoses from the same faucet, one With a sprinkler on the side yard and one out back then on a separate 2nd faucet the one out front And other side! If you dont have $4000 to shell out for a entire yard sprinkler system you can have an economical set up with these until you are ready to step up to that purchase. Keep it in place all summer, Mildly annoying when mowing the grass just weed wack around it, I use black rubber hoses which are the best, no kinking cracking or bending those, do yourself a favor and get rubber, vinyl hoses are cheap, uncooperative and not durable. You can also set up a timer on these!

Metal instead of plastic

Sprinkler has metal parts where it counts. Replaced a sprinkler that had cheap plastic where the water impacted the mechanism. The plastic broke making the unit worthless. This one has metal part that failed on the other unit. It shoots the water over a large area. Does a great job. The plastic ones are junk. Pay a little more for one with metal parts.

I really like this sprinkler so much, that I decided to replace all my old oscillating sprinklers with these and THEN I decided to make a DIY sprinkler system. This works very well and gets a LOT of lawn coverage. But what I REALLY like about it most, is that I can stick this orbit impact sprinkler into to the edge of my flower bed, pointed at the lawn, and LEAVE IT THERE all summer, without having to move it out of the way when my husband mows the law (which he hates doing), and without ever having to drag hoses across the lawn and put them back—which I absolutely hate doing. With the old oscillating sprinklers that I had (the ones that go back and forth), I had to drag them out to the middle of the lawn, so the hose was on top of the grass. If I got lazy and left the hose on the grass for a couple of days, it would not take long to make a mark on/kill the grass. With this orbit impact sprinkler, I cut lengths of an old hose to run neatly from the water spigot to the sprinkler at the edge of the flower bed/edge of the lawn, and no more excess hose to deal with. What I also really like about this sprinkler, is that I connected two of them together. You can remove the black screw cap from the sprinkler #1, and connect another hose into it, to run to sprinkler #2 to get more lawn coverage, and while using a single water spigot. The water pressure is strong enough to operate both sprinklers at the same time. I tucked that hose (which connects the two sprinklers) along the flower bed to sprinkler #2 and am leaving it in place all summer. I saved literally thousands of dollars on a professional lawn sprinkler system by connecting two of these together in my front yard, and two of them in the backyard, and simply cutting up an old garden hose and attaching new ends/connectors to the garden hose. Very easy. Good quality sprinkler. Good system. Works very well. I figured out how to use it better by watching videos on YouTube. The only thing I don’t like, is that I wish there was a way to operate the sprinkler in two different directions from the middle of a long, narrow lawn. You can set this up to go all the way around in a complete circle, or in any portion of a “pie” shape. But I’d really like to have it spray the water in two different pie shapes in opposite directions to get more coverage. Right now, I am watering a bit too much of the street since my lawn in narrow. But overall, I am very happy with this purchase and I do recommend it.
UPDATE: I like these so much that I have purchased 3 of them. They are more expensive than the ones I purchased from my local big-box home improvement store—but those have a bit of plastic in them, and THESE are all metal.

There's pros/cons compared to a gear rotor sprinkler. Also had an issue I was able to resolve.

It do what does. I had an issue where it got stuck rotating at the end of a rotation because it wasnt hitting the "switch" to return to the other side. Turned out that a slide ring that set the irrigated area/zone popped out of place. After I nudged it back in it worked fine, and probably happened when I was moving it around.

I ended up replacing this with a gear rotor sprinkler as I wasn't getting the needed uniform distribution from this impact sprinkler over a larger area.

If you are considering between this product and a gear rotor sprinkler, here are some pros and cons:

Impact
Pros: cost effective, sturdy, can tolerate hard/unfiltered water (grey water)
Cons: poor distribution uniformity unless you plan on having overlapping watered areas/zones, setting coverage area/zones can take some finnessing, also produces some noise while running.

Gear rotor
Pros: better uniform distribution (even better if there is overlap), ussually more intuitive/easier setting of distance and coverage, quiet operation.
Cons: hard/unfiltered water(grey water) can gum up more sensitive internals unless it's specifically designed for it ($$$), costs twice as much, more working internal parts that make it more fragile (freezing, kicking it, other accidents, etc)

I bought these indivially and in this pack of 5. The first 2 I bought were indivially sold and not in a pack. These indivual sprinklers are fantastic, with a great adjustable water distance range, and great quality. This pack of 5 left me wishing I had spent extra and bought more single sprinklers. The screw is much longer and less adjustable, so your water will always go very, very far. I have a half acre lot to water and I can't manage to get them set up to both cover my yard effectively and also not water my neighbors lawn.

Broke after four or five waterlings, won't return to position

I wanted to like this sprinkler, but there's two things that would make me never recommend it, or the company that made it.

The first is the wireframes that determine the arc of the spray. They are extremely difficult to move. Often the whole unit will unscrew itself from it's base, rather than just move one of these little wire clips. I doubt they are worth 5 cents together, but they really impair the functionality of this unit. Extremely poor product design and testing.

The big issue, though, and probably related, is that this return mechanism just quit working after four or five watering sessions, each 20-30 minutes long. It gets to the end of it's arc, and then just sits there. I messed with it for half an hour, wondering if there was just something bent, or loose, or out of place, but nothing I did could make this thing work. Amazon was good enough to let me return this, even though I'd missed the window by a couple of days, so I'm not out money but I did lose a lot of time.

This is the second sprinkler I've returned because it just didn't work. First one (different model, different company) didn't work even once. Is it this hard to make a water sprinkler? Or does Amazon just need to do a whole lot of work on quality assurance of the products it's selling? I hate making returns on anything, but this is the third piece of hardware I've had to return this month. Next time I think I'll just go to a local hardware store and save myself a lot of frustration.

Also, one of the reasons I bought this product was because it appeared to be made in North America, and I'm so tired of returning Chinese garbage products. But when I get it, I find out the company just has a North American address, it's actually manufactured in China. And surprise, surprise, it's a cheap, shoddy, broken product that I'll have to spend time returning.

If I could do one thing to improve Amazon, it would be to make a filter that excludes ALL products made in China.

It's pretty bad, worked great for 3 days, now it's leaking and the clips that adjust for the sprinkler range move on their own so it won't spray where you originally set it
