Constantly Turns Off with "F02" Alarm. Worse than plugging directly into the wall
This product is defective by design. It cannot handle the inrush current (QTY3 PLCs) when a typical desktop computer wakes from sleep. Every time the power goes out, the UPS sends a "wake up" command to my 5,1 Mac Pro (via USB). This causes the Mac Pro to attempt to wake up, but since the UPS is simultaneously transferring from the mains to the backup power (via a DPDT mechanical relay), this causes an "F02" alarm... every single time. While sleeping, the Mac Pro consumes 8 W(rms). When awake, the Mac Pro consumes 225 W(rms). If I unplug the USB cable from the Mac Pro, the F02 issue becomes intermittent, but it still occurs every few days... each time this happens my computer turns off. I contacted APC and they sent a replacement unit, but it exhibits the exact same behavior... I'm an Electrical Engineer, and in my opinion a backup power supply should be able to handle typical inrush current, particularly since this product intentionally attempts to wake the computer from sleep at the same time it's transferring to backup power.

I have several of UPS units for my computers and TV. I have a Tripp Lite for my desktop. I had to replace the batteries after one year. The APC on my TV/cable box have been solid for two years. So I bought two more APC's, one for my son's computer and another for a TV/cable box in our in-law suite. These UPS units are especially important in the fact we live in Tampa, the lightening Capital of the US! Regarding the name Tampa, it is believed to mean "sticks of fire" in the language of the Calusa, an Indian tribe that once lived south of the area. Don't know if that is true, but there is a lot of lightening. It saves a lot of trouble when we are in the middle of a show or working on a computer and we have a power lapse... The power is never off for more than 10 minutes, so this gets us through those outages easily.

Wow, just wow. I am impress. I have used a lot of ups, but this one is my favriote. Ihave been using this ups for a couple of month now, and I will tell you to buy it! Its a great buy and you wont regret it. Now, if for some reason after a storm, your ups does not want to turn on, you will have to perform a logic board reset:

(Full UPS Logic Reset)
...
Resolution:

Disconnect any attached load.
Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.
Disconnect the UPS' internal battery.
Push and hold the ""On"" button on the UPS for 5 seconds.
Reconnect internal battery.
Plug UPS in to known good power source.
Turn UPS on.

This UPS is well built, looks good and works perfectly. Really high quality. However, I can't say the same about the PowerChute software. Took me almost 3 hours to get it to work properly. I'd rate the UPS itself 10/10, and the software 2/10.

Also, great service from Aventis Systems. Super fast delivery and perfectly packaged. I had an issue where the USB drive was missing, and they responded promptly and got one sent to me quickly. 5 stars to Aventis.

I have only used APC brand battery backups for the last 25+ years. Reliable and so easy to set up. Slim and sleek easy to place just about anywhere. Never has APC let me down. Living in Fl. the electric is not so reliable, it is a comfort knowing APC has my computer protected from surges, brown outs and time to shut down when power goes out.
Bought through Aventis Systems, Inc., they have fast shipping and friendly service!

Needed a replacement for my work station/file server.

Within a day, had a power failure and UPS kept everything up and running. Previous unit did not always do that. True sinewave is nice and no RFI for my communications equipment.

Reliable unit for a reasonable price.

Has already survived several power outages and some issues with the electrical system in my apartment without causing or suffering from any issues itself. I wish it had an electric plug in front in addition to the ones around back but apart from that it appears to be a really solid unit. It's very slim but fairly tall making it easy to hide away *if* you have a space that can accommodate it.
