    Medela’s Symphony® Breast Pump is a hospital grade breast pump designed with innovative 2-Phase Expression technology, which is engineered to closely mimic a baby’s nursing patterns and rhythms while helping moms effectively initiate and maintain their breast milk supply. With the ability to successfully accommodate multiple users, Symphony is a uniquely designed double breast pump featuring two separate membrane units for convenient, ultra-easy switching between single and double pumping, based on mom’s preference.

    Symphony is built with innovation in mind and its breast pump kit (sold separately) is fully independent from its pumping mechanism and protected from milk overflow – a feature that Medela refers to as Overflow Protection – through a specially designed membrane. Comfortable pumping and whisper-quiet operation provide discretion and an enhanced pumping experience, no matter what time of day or night it is.

    Best pump I have ever had.
    This is one of the best pumps I have ever owned. I have tried Ameda finess, Spectra S1, Lansinoh Hans pump & Haaka, and used the Ameda hospital grade. This pump has its own letdown phase automatically so you don’t have to move many buttons around all you have to do is adjust the strength, which you don’t have to do too much because it’s powerful. The only thing is it’s not portable, but it’s convienient and helps with making more milk in less time. You can even spend more time pumping and make more milk which is a bonus.

    This is my everyday pump and it works beautifully. It fully empties my breasts with a little help from my hands for the armpit areas. I have very large and dense breasts and I am an oversupplier and this pump works better than a few others I’ve tried. I use the Medela freestyle flex when I’m not at home and it does a good job but the symphony is top tier.

    We bought this thinking it would be the key to helping with my pumping. I don’t know that the price is worth it though. I felt like I get the same level of pumping out of my “lower” model of pump. It’s big and bulky also, which made it a pain to move when I needed to. Also, it’s small, but annoying to me: one of the feet fell off the bottom within a couple weeks of purchasing it.

    I tried using other pumps with my first three children and I was sadly one of those mom's who struggled to produce enough milk. I went dry after two to three months while pumping with the less than powerful pumps. This hospital grade pump was the only one that ever helped me because of its power. It has different pumping intervals that also help you to produce more milk so when my 4th and 5th child came along I broke down and bought this pump. It was amazing and helped me to go a full year feeding my last two children. I would recommend this pump to anyone.

    This is a powerful, efficient pump. Exclusive pumpers & working moms know that shaving time off each pumping session & maintaining supply are both critical to successfully feeding your baby breastmilk. So while it lasts, this pump is good for those reasons.

    BUT. I agree wholeheartedly with all the other reviews about nightmare customer service. Mine suddenly broke after 7 months. After a total of 2 hours worth of phone calls, they informed me it would be 6 weeks to repair it. Refused to pay for the rental in the interim. They reminded me that it was "a mechanical device that can break & that I'm not the only exclusive pumper waiting for a repair." Infuriating lack of customer service for such an expensive & critical item!

    Like you, I sprung for this pricey pump out of necessity, but am now still having to rent one. When it breaks, you have hours (not weeks) to find an alternative, and Medela simply does not care.

    As a mother & pediatrician, I think Medela should be ashamed.

    I had rented one of these with kiddo #1 and it was a life saver. The one I ordered for kiddo #2 however had almost no suction at first and makes and annoying beeping sound every time it pulls and suctions. I sent it to Medela TWICE!! Their customer servuce was nice but did not follow through in fixing the problems with their product. At that point, I couldn’t return it and am now stuck with it. The suction improved but the beeping is ridiculously annoying!! This is unfortunate because it should be a great product😕

    My wife loves her pump. She was using little hand-held pumps for a few months and it was taking forever. I bought her this pump about six months ago. It was the right decision. I waffled for a week or two because of the price. Then I tried to find a used one, but discovered that a used one may not be as reliable since it has probably been passed around for awhile. I would definitely buy again. The sooner the better. No, I don’t work for Medela.

    This pump is awesome! After burning thru two of the pumpin style advance pumps (diaphragm, and motor) I purchased this. All the parts are fixable unlike the other pumps. The pump in style is more for the part-time pumper who's baby latches without problem. If your baby is like mine that have been tounge tied, or just lazy latcher...this pump will keep your supply up and is less noisey than the pump in style. This is a closed system pump unlike the pump in style. The symphony is so silent my husband even asked if it was working. LOVE THIS PUMP & should have purchased earlier.
